Thanks for the info guys, I have a velvet smooth cork fly grip I'm cutting into split grips and wanted to see if I had enough dia. to work with that seat. ( and Norm I've bought my last hook keeper! Thanks to you.)

Roger, just to clarify, I was asking about casting seats. That said I agree with you, casting or spinning, a bigger size # on a reel seat means the seat is indeed larger in all dimensions. A size 16 nut won't fit a 17 seat.

Thanks for the responses guys. I have only used size 16 seats thus far, so what makes an 18 different from a 16?

So, these little clumps of weeds that get caught in small ring guides, where do they end up if the guides are large enough to pass them?

Would like to know the outside dia. of an ALPs Tex-touch casting seat at the butt end. (TX16) Anyone?

Plaid acrylic craft paints work well as a basecolor on blanks. Cheap and easy cleanup.

Mark, I should mention that you are among much headier company than myself and I am generally building 6.5-8ft. bass rods. The inside of my bumper guide ring sits 3.1mm from the blank at the closest point.

My last spiral wrap goes from top to bottom thru a wide foot # 4 Pac Bay mini guide wrapped with locking and blocking wraps. You'd have a hard time tearing it off and it casts a 12ft. flouro leader tied to 50 lb. power pro as smoothly as I could wish. Could not live with it touching the blank.

Randy, sometime ask what distances are to be expected from a certain rod, reel, and line combination. Get ready to sit back and laugh!

Spencer, if you can provide me with the issue info I'll order it from Tom. Don't mean to be a pain. I have the guides CD, but don't see it there. I will check again. Thanks, Lynn

You are correct Roger. However, I don't need data sheets. My wife can smell 5 parts per million of anything that remotely stinks, and I shall be outside!

Thanks for the responses guys I had thought of bending the legs, but was afraid it might compromise ring to frame integrity. Purpose is indeed for a bumper guide. Not sure a single foot wrapped extra securely might not be strong enough. 7ft. heavy mag bass rated for 2 oz., 25lb. line.

Who offers the smallest ceramic ring double foot guides available?

Unless you're selling them at a rapid pace I would say no. That said, I'm a hobby builder and I build 7 ft. rods on a hand wrapper sometimes turned by my own (crude) inventions.

I have no clue as to photos. My wipe on is a moisture curing urethane. Would you describe this Minwax as hard as nails once dry? Because that's how my current finish is, Impossible to chip, so far on several rod rebuilds. I've always had a soft spot for Minwax.

I agree with Michael I use a different finish, and sometimes thin it, but do the same. I still use size E thread on occasion. There's no shame in seeing individual threads in a wrap.
