My above post is accurate, I can't pin down the year, but it had to have been post 60's. It does indeed refer to the effects of LSD on the builder.

Congrats to Mudhole sponsored John Cox 1st, and Brandon Lester 8th, in the Southern Open #2 at Chickamauga. 2 rod builders in the top 10. This get John into the Bassmaster Classic. I love it cause he fishes from an aluminum boat!

I believe someone upon seeing one for the first time made the comment " wow, the guy that built that must have been on acid."

Bill, Mark, glad to see you guys posting. Things have been pretty slow around here lately. I guess everybody's fishing but me!

Wait, give a guy grief cause he bought a measuring device that doesn't measure!

I would coat it, let it dry/cure, then mask off the blank on either side of the inscription and scuff the gloss lightly with scotchbrite (or similar). Proceed with caution, you just want to knock the shine off.

Your favorite moisture curing urethane should work well.

I don't believe a dust mask protects you from chemical fumes.

I must apologize to Threadmaster for my above post, I had no intention to drive anyone away from their 2-part finishes. I do however believe that Flex Coat offers a great deal of help to new builders. Where else can you see the owner tell you how to make tools instead of buying them from him? Besides, you gotta love a guy who has a cork stash.

Lots of conflicting opinions here. A lot of well recognized builders thin epoxy.

Ken, just read a lot of posts regarding this product and I would suggest you switch to one of the Flex Coat products. Not much love for it out there. (T-1) If you contact Flex Coat and let them know what characteristics you're looking for they'll point you in the right direction. Otherwise you'll spend a lot before you hit on something you like.

I was under the impression that it was metallic blue thread that faded quickly. Is this also true for blue nylon?

I wasn't concerned about the name thing, just wondered how to contact forum administrators should it be necessary for any reason. Thanks, Lynn

1936. post below
When I made the post below I got this message: A word you have used in your post has been banned from use. Please use a different word or contact the forum administrators. The word I used was my own name at the end, (which I wouldn't have needed) however my question is, how does one go about contacting the administrators?

I would like to thank Get Bit Outdoors for the manner in which they handled a problem (though no fault of their own) with my recent order. Kevin, thank you very much.

It is always best to add the weight in such a way that it can be easily removed should the rod have to be repurposed. You wouldn't like it for fishing spooks and such.

Try blowing thru a soda straw over coated wraps to release bubbles. While not recommended by some of the experts, it works quite well. Try not to drool during process!

Sorry Rick, should have said rod #2. That's the one that compares with the Diawa I mentioned. I'd like to know the distance you get with the setup you mentioned on that rod. I usually just try to throw it as far as I can with a one hand cast. Approx. distance. Thanks, Lynn

Rod #1 Diawa sells a rod that's rated the same as yours for $529,00. It weights 3.7 oz. I'd say ya done good! I'd like to know the actual distance of those test casts (approx.) No one has much to say on that subject. I'm also planning a KR build on a similar blank as soon as I get supplies. Thanks, Lynn

Mark, I'd check out Tackle Warehouse or similar and see what rods they sell for those baits and go from there. That would get you in the ballpark.

A few ft. mono tied to the spool with an arbor knot, braid tied to that.
