Chamfer the grip, put the epoxy where it's needed, use rubber cement as a lubricant. I know this doesn't answer the original question, but we seemed to have deviated from that. Some will say you don't need to use rubber cement, but it seems to work quite nicely and just peels off when your done. And your not wasting a lot of epoxy. Nothing like mixing a whole bunch then wiping it off and throwing

Yes the paint stencil idea will work. I have used stencils and dry brush technique with acrylic craft paints with success, never tried it with spray paint.

I would look to St. Croix first.

Maybe since you were able to get the grip loose down that far, you might be able to loosen the whole thing without wrecking it. If so, problem solved. I have rod bond, Quick and regular.

Is this blank supposed to collapse to 7ft. and extend to 12?

Wise decision. Shouldn't have escaped Q.C. in my opinion.

Phil I think I got you beat on the dryer. 5 rpm gear motor salvaged from a revolving wrist watch display case during the closing of a local dept. store in the mid 1970's. Had 2 of them, down to 1 now, fingers crossed.

David offers good advice, I have 7ft. light tip spinning rods with 10 guides. I'm fussy about line path and blank protection.

If I apply myself I can equal or better the best non-customs out there. Not to mention the cost.

By the way, while spirals may not be the look most pleasing to the eye, they are the most efficient way. I would always go right from top to bottom with a bumper, but that's just me. That knot is very strong. Rods for tip down use I keep the guides on top.

That knot will go thru 4.5 rings like butter. I have rods with 4's that cast 50lb. Power Pro to 17 lb. floro leader without issue. They are top to bottom with a # 4 bumper. (same Knot)

Did you tell the builder wire was to be used? If so he should have used the proper rings, sic or otherwise.

To the best of my knowledge MHX is the only blank to provide this info, and it is indeed a great service to builders. Others should take note.

You can use a KW-10 as a replacement for the RV-6 if in doubt. It is the appropriate height.

Typical bass a-rigs can be seen at Tackle Warehouse. The Flash Mob Jr. is on the light end of the spectrum weight wise. And thanks to all who made useful replies.

1102. Re: Utmost
I always look to them 1st. 3000 mi. west of here takes 1/2 the shipping time (or less) as 1000 mi. south typically does. I need things from both directions. lol

I don't believe a casting rod has a guide that's referred to as a "choke" guide.

After further review I will politely bow out of this topic. There's likely no one with less knowledge about downrigger rods than myself, and I'd just cloud the issue.

I would e-mail Batson or Utmost and tell them what you're looking for. This is right in their wheelhouse. They're working from home in a lot of cases calling is not good right now/ Read the posts 5 and 6 down from here..

Spiral wrap would be the best way, but ask ASK HIM FIRST, many don't like the look, regardless the benefit.
