when you put a GUIDE on you do your best to clean up the union so it don't come loose , now you want it to come off so you can put a new guide on an not mar the finish that you use to keep the first guide in place an not move on you , is that correct ??? it has been pointed out by all the above comments it is very hard to do it , because the finish is used to help fuse the first guide in pla

they can build them perfect but the cost would be out of this world , to get the guide in an acceptable condition it cost you money, or TIME TO FIX THEM like snake brand snake guides or touch up the feet , that is your choice , no free lunch as I see it could be wrong

every person will build to what they want / like / need , I do all my FLY rod's an yes it is not easy on the thicker sections , but it can be dun , there again not easy, any deep bending , RODS / BLANKS , can work then selves up an move during a day of heavy fishing , if the rod/ blank don't flex a lot [ heavy bending ] chance you will never see it , how I see it , an a lot of peo

there are lots of types out there, the only question is will you use it ??? lots of people DON'T , if don't use them why invest time an money in putting them on the blank an not use it ?? I don't use them on my "" RODS "" [ personal ]

The Snake brand guides are one of the best if not the best , one of the reasons is the foot / feet have been bent to fit the radius of the road one type of there guides are flat for the BAMBOO blanks , so make sure what you order , PS very little prep "" if any"" on SNAKE BRAND GUIDES , as I see it ,

If you fish in cold weather an have line freeze up , you might want to use guides on the larger size , not the smaller size , just a "" IDEA ""

you can make an arbor out of wine corks an it works just fine , you need to fill the void in the grip as much an you can so the grip will not fall apart over time , PS I got my wine corks off the NET cheep , I suppose you could drink a couple bottles of wine to get them , your choice , just a different way of doing filling the void ,

I don't think 5 MIN. is sufficient time to get the heat into the joints where the L.F. was applied could be wrong BUT not as I see it

what I saw was one made out of lighter color wood , it was a six sided wooden tube , with one end filled in with a block of wood , [ to fit the tube ] the other end was fitted with a larger six sided box to slip over the end of the long tube the cover was held in place with a leather strap , can not recall where I saw it . hope some other people can fill in the blank spots , [ I hope ]

On shipping a rod that you made , make sure to cover's the whole rod , not just the cost of the bits an blank as your ""TIME AN LABOR "" is worth some thing , as stated before "" SHIP "" happen's all the time for the most part the carries do a good job at doing it , as I see it ,

Walking out of chuck ??? i the reason is that the axis of the blank is not on the same plane as the jaw's of the dryer motor axis , if they are not on the same, some thing has to flex as blank turns ,

If the axis is the same on the motor an the holder for the blank on the drying stand that problem goes away , I THINK

Not sure how it happen but if you use a chuck on your motor [ plastic with 3 arms on it ] you have to make sure the axis of the blank holder is lined up with the axis of the motor , if not it will walk an the blank will drop out when using it as a dryer , this takes time to walk out of the jaws of your motor , [ like hours, like drying dz ]

You will find that they all work , as Tom stated , most of the time what ever finish you first started building with , they will stick with , you learn one way an stick with it , some people will change around a little , from one make to a different one . but not many will, they just stay with what they have on there bench ,

when I was in the military [ long time ago ] they had A tape, we called F4 tape , [ vulcanizing rubber tape ] once applied water prof , as I know , would that work ?? just a question ?? cost ??
