not a common blank , [ 1 PC ] have you tried the people that make blanks on the left on this forum page good people an will treat you well . but do note during this problem the world has some of the makers are shut down , PS because of the length shipping will be $$$$$ I think , but who knows try them ,

I have never use shrink wrap on a rod , but as I see it , it is a lot better to have extra , an yes it will shrink some in the length , but not much . the shrink of 2 :to 1 , is for the cross section , not length ,

from what I know, [ not much ] , the milky color comes from water / moisture got into your thread some how, it did not have A good sealed , could be wrong but don't think so .

it sounds like you did not get a good seal coat on the thread some how , as that is what happens with out thread sealer on it , [ thread gets dark ]

Talk to Mud hole , they did handle tubes with cloth on plastic tubes , they contracted it out , an could get the metal tubes on a special order from there supplier , engraving ? try a local shop ,

Salt water ROD go REC or SS it will save in the long run never have to change them , to change guides it is a pain in the butt to me as I don't build that much now , have to dig it out before I do a guide job

I am looking for some different than what mud hole has to offer, I have there 4 jigs looking for some different ones , have looked at amazon , an E bay , have not found any different than what Mud hole sells ,

The Kerf of the blade is where I have my problem it is a lot thinner than the slots that are in my jigs [ got it off Amazon ], I have tried many saw blades still looking for a good one [ SIZE ] have not found the best one .
use business cards wrk fine in place of RAZOR blades , as the rings walk in side of the jig I use bolt an washers to make sure it will not move , Lowes have a large sele

Dremal tool an set of diamond bits from a large 5 &10 store on the web . about a dozen for about $10 [ all different shapes ] should last a life time
Amazon bit set , SE diamond bits, 20 for less than $ 7 [ prime ] a set of 20 bits different shapes [ cheep ] there are better but these will last a long time [ they have for me ]

just think the cost of the blank is they made sure that all the fiber cuts were the same, an the glue that holds the fiber to be the same amount , , same thickness 5 % is not a bad mark as I see it

because the cork moves a little when cutting it , an the tool that you use has a slot in that you put the saw blade, an you saw on one side of slot one time then the other side of slot the next time your patten
will walk, , I have yet to find a way to cut the rings , so I would be happy with the out come , PS The smaller the pie slice shape the more it will show's up , a real thin saw

you can put a little sparkle in the epoxy to change the appearance, most craft stores have little packs or jars of sparkle you can add to your mix , A few different colors .
