On April 13, 2013, the KYRBS will host their first gathering at Grand Rivers, KY, beginning at 8am. As of now we have the community center reserved. If you don't know, Grand Rivers is situated between Kentucky and Barkley lakes and within walking distances to both. There have been a number of businesses who have offered to send some samples to be offered as door prizes. We plan on coverin

I'm looking for some type of software I can use that will keep track of my inventory, my costs, and rod sales. I've been keeping everything by hand, but I would like to change that. Is there anything out there that any of you have used and would recommend? Thanks, Jeremy Reed Reed Rods

If you want a step up from electrical tape, try the silicone tape. It's not tacky and fuses to itself. Plus if you keep some extra on hand, you can fix radiator hoses, fuel lines, water hoses, etc. I found some in the plumbers supply section at lowes. The Rescue Tape brand had a lot of colors you can choose from.

All the customers I've built for really like them and the price point. I also had a warranty issue on a white blank. It had been in the corner for a number of months and when I got ready to build it for and ALS Fund Raiser, I noticed the white was messed up in a few places. By the end of that same week, I had another blank from mudhole. People also like the fact they can register the blank fo

How much weight savings could you have if these were created with foam instead of wood? Those look really sharp.

I know nothing about leather laces, but silicone tape works best for me. Fuses to itself with no residue left on the reel and reel seat when removed.

One thing that you may want to keep in mind that I did not think about until I received a vhs tape from Barry Thomas regarding the old clemens lathe is that if you reverse the direction that was intended, it can possibly loosen the chuck at the threads. If you do decide to reverse the direction of the motor, be sure to check the chuck out every so often.

Hit it with a heat gun. If it set up too long, the heat gun can blend it, but be careful and don't overdo it. When I let it set up a long time, I get the pick marks, but I hit it with a heat gun lightly or use a straw and blow on the area. *Also, the main reason for the hour long wait is that my basement is low 70's or high 60's usually. It it was warmer, go with a shorter time.

I have the jet 1220 i got for $300 practically new off of c-list, and love it. It's amazing what doors open when you're able to turn your own grips. I'm not even great at it, but turning grips has become one of my favorite things to do. This past weekend, I was able to pick up the bed extension at woodcraft for 20% off at their sale. Unfortunately, I will not be able to use it for a month or

Mr. Dupre - If you don't plan on putting pictures of the blank colors on your website, would you throw up some pictures on the photo forum? I possibly see a purple haze BB1 and yellow BB2 in my future. Thanks, Jeremy Reed Reed Rods

In addition to adding the tape, take a little torpedo level to get it level. If it's level, the chop saw/miter saw, should come down perpendicular to it (that is if the saw is adjusted properly). This should give you a squared cut. *be sure one end of the level is on the blank and the other is on the tape used to shim it up. I believe this will get you square. jwr

We are meeting in April or May of 2013 at KY Lake. The exact location is to be determined, but it'll be close by Grand Rivers (North end of KY and Barkley Lakes). To date, Batson Enterprises has offered to send samples and so has Alex D with Hyrda fishing. If you do plan on attending, please bring any blanks and custom rods you have on hand so other builders can get a chance to handle the

Both blanks are good. I like the RX8 blank better than the MHX. The HM-MHX are also good, but for the most part, I like RX8 better. I've got 3 RX8 in my arsenal but no MHX. The MHXs that I've built, people love them and the sensitivity. What are you going to use the blank for?

Sorry Mark that you're on the TN side of things, but I will look past it. I'm in the process of moving back to the lake area, so I'm looking right now at a meeting maybe in May-ish. I think we can get by without having to rent a hall or anything. I've got a couple places I'm looking at having an event, they would either be in Grand Rivers (sits between barkley and ky lake) or in the Sharpe ar

Mr. Cook, If you have facebook, be sure to join the group online. I've never done much fishing around Ballard, but I used to do a lot of duck and goose hunting down there. I'm planning on making some panfish fly fishing rods soon. I'd love to find some redears with a fly rod.

Will do Mr. Cook. I'm actually about to move back to the Paducah area. I grew up in Marshall Co., but I have spent the last 4 years in Louisville working. I'm looking forward to being able to fish KY and Barkley a couple times a week again.

I'm trying to start a group, similar to the NERBS and the other area groups. If I can get enough interest, I'd like do at least a couple get togethers throughout the year, with the first being maybe next spring or summer around KY and Barkley Lakes, maybe try to hit the panfish and bass spawns. If interested in this group, reply to this tread and list your email, so that I can start putting tog
