And wraps using CP are not weak..in Rod Maker Vol. four Tom did study showing only a slight loss..it took ten pounds to pull a guide loose with CP to eleven pounds with no CP..and at seven pounds the frames were. Distorted for both set ups..you do not need epoxy penetration for wrap strength..

Like Mark I have never had a guide failure mainly because I do not leave my rods on the boat deck or floor where I can do a bill dance on them..lol.

CP seals the wrap so that I only need one finish coat as thick or thin as wanted..guide wraps are much lighter that way..why spend more for light guides then saturate the wraps with several coat of heavy epoxy?

It's almost scary how much sensitivity is improved just by using braided line..even on glass rods.

Jim, like your, friend i,ve been using a butt guide just tall enough to eliminate rod slap and then go to runners for light braids..this really reduces rod tip weight and makes.a firmer hook set.i build on mainly e glass that I cut back to five feet or less..

I do like Roger but use a round file to just cut the bore then use a gritted tapered rod get the final taper I want which only took a few turns and never got too hot.

I build and fish with e,glass and all my rods are more sensitive than my nephew's graphite rods because I use braided line and he uses mono..simple as that..he could use braid but then he loses more fish in the fight..I trim the butts to build on sixty inches or less to keep weigt down..the slower and deeper flex make the fish fight more fun..but I guess using a line that supplies more than enoug

Phil, put some braided line on..your sensetivity problems are no more, no matter what, where, or how many guides..if you must have numbers measure the natural frequency..

To me a Carolina rig guide train needs to be as sensetive as it gets and I just don,t consider the k guide a sensetive guide by design..on all guides the leg of the guide carries vibrations that the line gives to the ring down to the foot..k guide legs are long and very loopy and inefficient while single foot L guides are short and much stiffer, a better transmitter of vibration..

I,m thinking where can I get one of those rods to put a spln reel on it..I bet an ul ugly stick would come close..just redo the guide train..ln number and size to reduce rod. Frequency..btw Stan like all trick casters loved low frequency rods.
