I'll add my two cents. I think Bob McKamey got it right on, with the CB 845. One of my clients is a semi pro and told me he was losing way too many fish with his chatterbait. Upon his request I built him a "chatterbait" rod on the CB845. This guy never gives out any compliments but he did in fact call me to tell me that that rod blank was perfect and he no longer is losing fish once

It seems that American tackle has a problem getting out AERO reel seats and I have an urgent need of one. If anyone has a 16 mm AERO comfort grip in either stainless or black and will be willing to part with it I would more than happy to take it and pay for it and whatever shipping is incurred. Thanks in advance Tom

The KR Concept is the real deal. And yes they are even on the Bass Pro Shops top of the line Johnny Morris rods but that doesn't mean that they are the right setup. I had a client bring me a Johnny Morris for a tip repair that had the KR guides on it.. I asked him what size reel was he using, his response was a Shimano 2500 why ? I said because the rod is set up wrong for your size reel. So

I would have to agree with James Taylor on sizing. In the past few years I have used more than twenty MVT reel seats and they fit perfect. I do stock five or six so it isn't necessary to be held up on shipping. Only a very few have ever needed to be reamed for a perfect fit. Regardless of their price once you put that carbon fiber masterpiece in your clients hand they never ask about the pric

Recently I received a request to build a 12 ft. 2.75/3.50 lb carp rod. After looking on all the sites I know of I came up empty with the exception of guides and blanks in the UK. Does anyone know a source for these any closer. ON line I see Daiwa and Okuma and a couple of others make them complete so there has to be some supplier of this rod blank. Any help would be appreciated. Tom

I just ordered and received a St Croix SC5 from you. There was no decal in with the blank. Will they be coming and will it say RG or St Croix? Tom

You can order any blank unfinished. I should mention that there is no charge for a blank to be clear coated, like the St Croix rods in the stores. Tom

Today a customer of mine ordered 6 rods of various size to be built with a 5 inch EVA pistol grip such as the one below from Mud Hole. I need to order the exact inner diameter exposed reel seats for these rods, each with a different diameter where the seat will sit. Not having one here to measure I was hoping someone on the forum had one and could tell me what is the length of the bore from the

Like Norm I use "fiberglass" drywall tape. It works really well and because the tape is a mesh the epoxy gets all the way down to the rod blank for a permanent bond Tom
