Seems I am having issues as well. I had a problem on one of their reel seats and sent them an email from their website, over a week ago and still no response . This is not the company I have done business with since the day they opened the doors. They were exceptional on customer support. Tom

This weekend a customer of mine brought me an Okuma 7ft 11in Heavy action, Matt Daddy casting rod to have a guide he stepped on replaced. What got my attention was that this almost 8 foot rod had a number 12 stripper guide only 6 inches in front of the reel seat !! In all my years I have never seen the likes of this and was wondering if any of you would know why they would place a stripper gu

I had a customer bring me a tip top that was sent to him by St Croix along with a small container of Piccolastic Hydorcarbon resin #D125. After I fixed his rod he told me to keep the glue. I must say that it is outstanding. It is far easier to use than the stick glue and holds like iron. Once I run out of this I will be deeply saddened that it can't be bought.

Russ the insert is the dame and you are right about the finish. If I was building a new rod it wouldn't matter. In fact I just built two this weekend with the CC guides and they look really good. However, I repair hundreds

Yesterday while online at Mudhole I noticed when looking at the Fuji K series guides that Mudhole now has a memo that says the Fuji Black and Stainless Alconite guides are NO LONGER AVAI:LABLE. This I assume is an in-house decision to reduce inventory knowing what is coming down the road. Jim Ising has sid that they ordered sufficient inventory to go well into 2021 with black and now here they a

The Aero comfort grip 16 mm is my seat of choice on a lot of my spinning rod builds. This is a very comfortable reel seat. I found the 17 to be too big and not as comfortable. What I do is when someone wants a spinning rod built is give them one of my rods with that grip and one with a regular spinning seat. 90% will go for the Aero. The rear is made to fit a .990 diameter grip. Not sure th

For quite some time, I have been fixing over 20 broken rods a year. Knock on wood there has never been one returned that has failed using the method that Mr Kirkman has suggested. Tom

It would be nice if they just used St Croix decals on the rods. I spend way to much time explaining that they are one and the same rod. And I must saythe folks at Rod Geeks are first class and it's a pleasure to do business with them. I've had a couple very special requests on the paint and they came through for me. Much appreciated. It will stretch but not as much as EVA due to the wrap of Winn Polymer. I would ream it to stop a couple of inches above where you want it to end up. Then push it into place. Another thing in the Winn grips is you don't need to use epoxy to hold them in place although you can. I use a two sided tape that is designed for golf clubs and I get it from Golf Works so I know it is good stuff. Wet

Norm If Fuji has discontinued the black and bright stainless aconite KR guides what in the world are they thinking? Thet series represents over 90 % of what I build. The Alconite is a tremendous guide ring and in bass rods most all of my customers want it in black, I like the stainless myself. I do not care for the look of the CC guides and I believe that Fazlite is a lower grade of ceramic ?

On a 6 ft rod I would not go the 12 10 8 route because by the time you have chocked the line down you are half way up the rod or more. I would start with the 10 LN at 19 to 20 inches. You then can to to single or double foot 8 or even a 7. from there put the runners of choice on it all the way out. My choice depending on what line is being used would be Fuji 5's or even 4.5 KT guides. To

The reason I mainly asked is because one of my customers has had two wraps break on two different rods. The casting guides were in the power section of the blank. I was using Pro Wrap A nylon thread. Unfortunately I don't know the thread strength or where to obtain that information. He is very hard on his equipment that much I do know. Thanks Tom

A good while ago there was a discussion on thread strength of A vs D and I've been looking for it and can't seem to find it. What I was curious about was what was the difference in strength of wrapping, say, a 10mm guide foot with A thread vs D. The D is definitely stronger but you get less wraps than what you would obtain using A thread. So what would you use if you wanted the strongest wrap

Another thing I have found very helpful in eliminating bubbles is I leave a small amount of epoxy in the plastic cup from the previous build. Most cups have a ridge in the bottom and when your stir stick hits that ridge it can create a bubble every time the stir hits it. With the epoxy in the bottom it is perfectly smooth and eliminates the bubbles. I'll do this several times per cup. And a

I have it from a reliable source that the virus can spread easily by passing paper currency from one hand to another. Not wanting to see any of my rodbuilding friends get this deadly virus there is a plan I have put in place to preserve my custom rodbuilder friends. The idea is actually quite simple. If you take all of the paper currency in your wallet and place it in a zip lock bag and sea

Jason it looks like your are comparing apples to oranges on this. Are you wanting a 7ft or a 7'3" rod and what power medium or Medium Heavy? I think you are on the right track with the Rodgeeks and if graphite is your choice by all means go for the Bass 4 However, Rodgeeks makes one of the best S Glass rods I have ever built and I have over twenty of them out there getting the job d
