If you go to the forecast the upgrade is your call, but I have it on my choice of wrapper the American Tackle/Pac Bay and it is simply the very best chuck for the money you can put on a small wrapper. There is no comparison from it to the

Chris another idea you might want to try is since your wraps are red use epoxy on them and keep your over run to a bare minimum. Then on the decals use the PG where you shouldn't need many coats to cover the thin decal.

455. Re: Winding checks
I have done some research and a friend of mine who's company makes stainless steel and aluminum products gave me the name of a company they use that should be able to anodize the plain aluminum winding checks. This company makes all kinds of specialty aluminum produces in many different colors. Once I see if they will do it and if there is a minimum number of products I will post that informati

Whoever is doing the anodized in blue, red, gold, etc. Could very simply do more in green if asked to do do. The question is who do we talk to and what manufacture is making them

Thank you Roger that is close. What I was looking for is anodized aluminum like in the photo. Also the butt caps and trim rings are green aluminum I don't see why there aren't winding checks in the same material.

I have asked this question of our suppliers on the left before but didn't get the right answers. Who offers good looking aluminum winding checks in GREEN. They offer green trim rings, green butt caps even green guides but I can't find green winding checks.
They are out there somewhere because in the photo below is a perfect example of what I am looking for. Does anyone know of a source for

Tom On rods that i have repaired and the thread color was not obvious I have called the rod manufactures and they were all to happy to provide me with the maker of the thread as well as the color number. Hope this helps.

Mostly Pro Wrap some Fish Hawk but no Fuji, I feel it's to thin and see no benefit to the polyester. Also I have come to like the B size now offered by Pro Wrap.

Dave Here is something to consider. There is one wrapper that has an expandable solution. Mud Hole has the RBS hand wrapper which a buddy of mine bought and I think it is , for the money, a very nice product. The best part about it is as you want to expand you can put it on rollers on an extruded aluminum 8ft base. Then you can add the same motor as on the Pac Bay, AT and ALPS and make it

Telling you that they don't put a hook keeper on a SCV because no matter where they put it someone would complain is pure @#$%&. If you had asked him, using his own statement, why is it okay to
to put hook keepers on any of their rods if you can't please anyone??? Truth is it costs less to make that rod without a hook keeper and over time that savings is huge. I have installed the keepers fo

For the most part I have only used flex coat products . I started with lite build but not long after went strictly to the hi build products. Even though I have attained excellent results I still looked at other brands just for comparison, trying to stay openminded. I used a whole bottle set of the threadmaster hi build but truthfully saw no real reason to switch from tried and true Flexc

Bill I use Ultra V all the time too. I like it for a high build and have no issues. Ken Preston put me on to the AFTCOTE which is a medium build and I like it a lot too.

Bill inexpensive is a relative term. What Jared said is based on Chris spending as little as possible. Duplicolor on Amazon for 8 oz is $11 not a bad price, Krylon for 12 oz is $4.63 and on a kids rod why not??

Tom I have had just the opposite experience with the Doybns. Last year I had one to repair that the epoxy was so hard I was afraid of hurting the blank getting it off. Wondering what kind of epoxy it was, I called their customer service department and asked what they use. The gentleman there told me it was Flexcoat Ultra V two part epoxy.
Since that rod I have done several more and hav

Chris, here is what I would suggest. MHX makes several panfish rods under $20 Brand new good blanks on which I have built many kids rods. If he wants it Red just paint it with Krylon Fusion plastic paint. If you want to clear coat it you will need to let the paint dry for at least a week before doing so. Use EVA grips real inexpensive and there you have it. No big investment and if he chang

Wow some great information here. Not being a fly fisherman I had no idea that the rod is as much about the fly weight as it is the fish's weight. However it is no different from bass rods rated for lure weight too??
I am going to pose these ideas to him and let him decide what he looking for in a rod.
Many thanks for the replies
