The Ritz grip is the better choice for me on rod #6 and heavier. Simple, clean and very ergonomic.

It seems ProKote (regular medium) do not like heat, the High Build accept it. With the regular I not use heat and never had a bubble.

Open a new bottle of ProKote last day. Stop turning after 3h dry to the touch after 6h. I've seen some time it need more time to set up. This time I didn't warm it, but 5 second in the microwave before mixing a full 4 minutes allways work for me. Seems you need to be very accurate on the 50/50 ratio, I mix small batch so I try to be very precise (othervise it don't set up). The High build

I have the Ikea JANSJO too, hard to beat for the price, I tied flies site it too. And still have one on my varnish lathe. Work fine but need to be close to the working area.

I weighted some (Pacific Bay single foot, Snake Brand, REC single ....) as Manufacturer Listed Weight sometime are true sometime not. But for me weight comparaison should include thread/finish as a lighter guide with long foot may weight more than a little heavier guide with a shorter foot :-)

You can also use Minima 4 Tip Top for your needs.

For me, on 10 footer in light line (4 and under) there is some difference that you don't see on 9 footer or higher Line weight. It's hard to find good 10' in light line weight, not tip heavy and responsive.

I too use epoxy to bond burnt and cork. Burnt is harder but easy to turn (nearly as easy as pure cork).

On very Lightweight rods (UL Rods and Light Line fly rods) of course you feel the difference between Light and heavy guide coating. Especially in term of recovery speed.

I you want to save weight think of the thread size too (thinner thread mean less epoxy to saturate them).

When you fish close you don't want 'flash'. On some occasion Tich or black guide can make a "little" difference (note you can only seen it if you're able to get close close to the fish in gin clear water and cast without putting line or rod shadow in fish vision cone).

As MHX HM came with a Rod bag (and if you need them) cost is not too much VS standard. HM seems to be à little lighter on the tip too (and more responsive). So as stated by Mike Lawson it depends on the application.

For me guide would be better without the W foot on size 3 and 4. If I'm affraid about loose guide I'd do Forhan wrap to secure it. But maybe other rodbuilder are not like me.

If you're are on Ultra Light you'd better use thé size 3 (opening on Minima are greater than same ceramic seize). On 4.5 tip the size 3 foot match (of course you can grind it a little of you want). Yesterday I wrapped à rod with 1.0mm tip (yes 2.5 tip for you) and I needed to grind my XF3XG03 foots.
