I am building two rods exactly the same on the same blanks except one is cast and the other is spin with the Fuji ACS. Considering finishing thread wraps same colors as each other but mirror image, or whatever.

I turned this grip out of regular cork rings and burl cork rings, put on a phenix blank with a Fuji ACS reel seat. This is before I added the cork seal which as you know darkens the grip.

This is a silver thread ready made butt wrap that I got from Mudhole, I trimmed the edges with blue thread and mixed fine silver glitter into the finish over the wrap. I painted the reel seat to match the blank that I painted.

I have done it several times with good to excellent results. I just mix the glitter directly into the finish as I am mixing it up. I don't even put a layer without the glitter over it.
