241. Re: Madeira Thread?
Wow, excellent idea Terry, I do some airbrushing and painting under a light colored wrap would make a lot of sense, thanks Terry. And thanks to everyone else, I will for sure not do an underwrap unless on a salt rod and I will be very liberal with the CP. And Fred, I looked on Madeira's website too, and found the same thing, they probably barely know that their thread is used for rod wrapping. Th

Thank's I will check out that information media, I have been trying to decide what book or dvd to get, but I figured out most of what I need to know, except for what I have asked here, and you have done an excellent job answering me. Thanks. one last thing though, on the tag wrap i wasn't really asking how many wraps it is, but rather how to do it, I don't understand how you can start and end a w

Since I will soon have the materials to put all of my research to use I just need the answers to a few problems that I cannot figure out. For one thing, how do I figure out what size winding check i will need. Is there a specific height on the blank that I can measure the diameter at? or do I have to put the whole handle together first and then measure and then send for the winding check?

245. Re: Madeira Thread?
Does Madeira have that silicone lubricant? and to get around a dark blank showing through on light colored wraps, have you tried an underwrap with this stuff. Like I said I am new, so I don't know if it would work, but in theory it would make sense. Thanks for the help Mike.

248. Madeira Thread?
Has anyone tried or heard anything about the Madeira thread? I believe it only comes in size A. I have ordered one spool for practicing my wraps since I am a newby, but since I have never wrapped an entire rod start to finish or anywhere close to that, I have no idea if it holds strength, color, if it gets fuzzy when it is being covered in the finish. I tried it because the colors are awesome and

249. Reel Seat Sizing
I am exceptionally new to rod wrapping, I have been studying, researching and building jigs and tools for about four months now; but, have not had the money for the materials to actually wrap a rod. i will soon be ordering the rest of the materials I need for my first couple rods. I have no idea how to determine what size reel seat I should use, I imagine it is probably determined by the size of

Although I have not had the pleasure of being able to afford a phenix blank yet, I have had the pleasure of handling about 15 different completed phenix rods that felt amazing and I would have given a piece of my lower anatomy to have one. I wish you the best of luck with your two new blanks, and for Chip, if you have the money, I suggest you buy these blanks quick fast and in a hurry.

I just recently found batsonenterprises and wow, they seem to have some of the best materials I have found thus far. Bill, you asked why they didn't make them weight adjustable, although I don't know about that, I do know that Jann'sNetcraft.com has a fuji weight adjustable butt cap that is adjustable up to 3 oz. for balance. Good luck.

Netcraft has a butt cap that comes with adjustable weights that go in the butt cap, all the way up to like three ounces and it is only $3.85. Check it out. It is called a Fuji Rod Balancer butt cap. This is the link . Good luck.
