I think you guys are correct on the how its being treated part. It doesn't seem to be happening while fishing because I check after I'm done fishing each time and its fine. Mostly i see it when i get the rod out of the car. I treat this rod a lot easier than the other rods in the car and they have no problems. I think I'll switch it to a double foot guide and make a pvc tube to store it in. I'm g

I'm having a problem on a rod I recently built and can't figure out why it keeps happening. The butt guide finish keeps cracking and the guide comes loose. I have redone it 3 times waited at least 7 days for the finish to cure and still. This is the only guide on the 10ft rod that does it. Anyone have any ideas why this keeps happening just on this guide? Threadmaster high build finish, singl

There is a ton of info here! Thank you all for the replies. Any suggestions on a way to keep the guides straight while test casting? I try to tape them good, but they always fling around when I test cast.

Been out of the game for about 10 years. Is the new guide concept still a good way to set up a spinning rod? I'm building a 2pc 10' spinner (SU1207F-2-MHX) for surf casting and using a van staal vr150 with 50lb braided line (12lb diameter in mono) with no connecting knots. I'm trying to build it as light as possible while being able to cast as far as possible. Also any suggestions on guides th

put yorkers on your epoxy bottles , cut the tip off the yorkers like usual and stick your syringes in...easier than drilling a hole in the cap and the syringes fit very snug

Personally, I like my rods to feel as comfortable and be as light as possible. No one looking at my rods when I am fishing, haha.

I use a 1600 lumens 6500k cfl bulb. 6500k is the highest I could find without ordering. I like the 6500k because its a blue light that promotes alertness and is pretty bright. Higher lumens = brighter.

I do the same as above. Pull the tie off loop tight to the edge of the wrap then cut with scissors and pull through. I hated using razors so I started doing it like that, and now I'm so much happier.

Another note on lighting. Use the correct light. a light in the 2700k (which is yellow) range will promote relaxation, and make you more likely to fall asleep. A light in the 6500k spectrum (blue) will keep you alert, give you more of an attention span, etc.

So I'm trying to get the spacing of the guides on an unlimited blank. Gator 6' unlimited and I'm having trouble flexing it. Has anyone done one of these big rods before, and can offer some advice on getting it to flex enough to place the guides? I had it attached to a table with a 5 gal bucket and was filling the bucket to get it to flex and broke the table... My first spiral rod too. Do I nee

Same here. I buy most of my stuff from them, and they are great. They make all efforts to make sure you get the correct items and even test fit if you ask them. They make returns easy too, and are willing to help every step of the way.

I'm interested in hearing how good the reels are too. I'm thinking about buying one, but would really know how they hold up. Hopefully someone who has one will post a review. I bought a st croix kit from mudhole for my first build, but they didn't include reel, epoxy, thread and such.. It included the blank, grips, arbor/reel seat and guides. The rod was pretty good until I got stupid and brok

I love the threadmaster lite, but the 1 never hardens and peels away from the blank for me after a day or 2. The lite version works perfect for me every time though.
