Here is my 2 cents,
I like the recommendation of the Seeker rod for a short stand up rod. For your application this will be perfect in my opinion. If you have the harness use it to set up the reelseat location. I would opt for a bucket style harness but that is just me! Also I use many of the Super Seekers for giant yellowfin tuna. In which I have caught MANY, MANY, MANY, sharks on them as a

I built my dog house with air/heat and satellite tv so I am good. There is no telling what might be in my freezer at any time. The funny thing is that she knew it was in there and forgot and just had to know what was in that bag.....

I get mine from a snake....
Killed a nice 3' copperhead last spring and put in the freezer for skinning later. Was real fun when the wife found a bag in the freezer and she didn't know what was in it and opened it to discover a snake. Priceless....

Here is my 2 cents on rail rods. I build them and use them. I looked at rubberized cork grips as well as what Mudhole has and had it in my hands and I didn't use it, in my opinion they are just not tough enough for multiple trips as well as rubberized cork rings. In this case tougher is better but not necessarily harder. I use a 18" hypalon foregrip and use a 18" piece of cold shrink. I

I found the all you can eat crab legs at a Hong Kong King Buffet as well as crawfish, and oysters on the half shell. I would go back again. I went to King's Crab Shack Saturday night and had the King Crab and watched UNC beat NC State.... They have Snow Crab legs sold by the pound but they were not All You Can Eat...like I was looking for...

I deal with Charkbait all the time but not for rod building supplies unless I need something faster than one of the vendors listed to the left can provide. Mark is a great guy in my book and their customer service is great also. He has two brick and mortar stores as well as the online site. The only time I order rod building supplies is if they are out of stock and I need it within a couple of d

Yes lighter coats is the way to go, but no need to thin just apply let the rod sit and wick off any excess that droops then move to your dryer once it had dripped enough.

To many variables for a price of parts. Like guide selection (high end and lower end) ringed or roller guides, grips, reel seat o

Rather than thin a epoxy use Aftcote Epoxy, I have never had one crack yet. Thin the feet of the guide. Aftcote is a more flexible epoxy. I have a thin disk of left over epoxy from a glass application dish that is now 6 years old and I still can bend a 90 into the disc without it breaking or cracking.

Placing rollers and or ringed guides use the same logic, keeping the line off the rod while under load with the least amount of guides. Personally I would use all ringed guides as the rollers will hinder jig tossing a bit but using this as a troller also I understand the reasoning. All my longrange 100# and 130# tuna rods are with ringed guides now. Either way will work for you that is why we cal

What I have done in the past on a boomer is when I had the gimbal smaller than the blank I reamed out the gimbal and I only take a inch off if necessary and just chamfer the butt end of the blank just to fit the gimbal.

22. Re: Epoxy Finish
I use Aftcote on my longrange stand up tuna rods, rail or harness. I have tried most all epoxys and the first dish of aftcote that I mixed up 4 years ago I left the remaining in the dish to harden. I fliped out the 3 inch disc of hardend epoxy finish and to this day I still can flex it to a 180 degrees and it will not break. I haven't been able to do that with any of the other finishes that I hav

This show was great Thanks to Tom for putting it on again this year and all the exhibitors that were there.
Is it Christmas? It felt like it today. I just left the International Rod Builders Expo. in High Point, NC just a little while ago and I now have the new Super Seeker 1x3 and the 3x5 blanks to add to the 2x4s I already own. I want to Thank the guys at Seeker Rods for making it happen.

We are thinking about the rod that the kite is attached to right? If so the above answers as well as any heavy short heavy blank will do in most cases but we are custom rod builders.

My SS 2x4 is wrapped with the American Tackle Turbos Titians. Underwrap is size A and overwapped with two layers of A also. Caught a 266 lb Yellowfin this year on that one. Rigged up with 100 lb Jerry Brown Hollow spectra and 100 lb Blackwater flurocarbon splice on. My SS 6463 4X is wrapped with the same guides and is wrapped with Size A as the underwrap and size A for the first overwrap and siz

You might look into the Seeker Hercules line SW 748H is a good 40 lb to 50 lb blank and is 7 foot. They are jigging blanks. I like to fish 80 lb hollow spectra for capacity on my fighting rod/reel with a short top shot of 60 lb mono for stretch. I fish small #6 and #4 treble hooks so I use very little drags. As most know you don't need this weight of line to land a King Mackerel according to whe
