It might be helpful if you could list the threads you've tried and if you used CP or if they were NOCP threads. Thanks.

I'm a believer in Norm's method and also in using braid for the loop ( may be a little too OCD but I also use DNA on the braid before using it the first time ). I'm wondering if it's just my old fingers but I feel an Xacto knife gives me better control than any razor blade .

Thanks to all for helping me understand this . I didn't see any instructions for use of the can on the web site but using the screw eye makes sense . And , no , Norm your method doesn't sound at all extreme . Thanks again . Ron

I have searched the archives here but had no luck in finding out why using a " Perma Gloss Container" would extend the shelf life of U40 urethane . If exposure to air / moisture is the cause of Perma Gloss going bad in the bottle , it seems that increasing the surface area exposed by placing it in the metal can would only worsen the problem . I assume the container must work or U40 woul

I am completely out of my depth here but ....... The only thing I might add is that a very wise man explained to me how it was easier to get good progressive spacing using the metric system ( cm / mm ) rather than to worry with inches and fractions of inches . The metric tape measure didn't cost much at all and has been one of the best investments I've made . That and the other things he taught

Got an email today promoting rod blanks designed for left handed folks . I know I'm new to all this but I can't understand how a blank could be made differently so that it would function better for south paws . If someone could help me understand this , I would appreciate it . Thanks . Ron

If your grandson is still active in scouting and enjoys it , then I think Roger Wilson had an excellent idea . Perhaps one of the sponsors on the left might even be able to come up with a custom decal related to scouting . When all is said and done though , who knows your grandson better than you - so go where your feelings lead . Ron

Again , thank yall for helping me understand this better . I assumed the difference in guides had something to do with taper and blank thickness ( and therefore weight ) but was unsure . At least now the light is on even though it is only flickering . Ron

Thanks for clearing up Mr Forhan's spacing terminology for me . I could see the 5-6-7 ..... being a way to get progressive spacing from the tip but was confused by the 6-6-6 . I was fairly sure that the commercial surf rods had fewer guides in large part due to the bottom line ( please pardon the poor pun ) . But when I saw Mr. Batson's blueprint for an RX7 blank had one less guide than the leng

I have two questions on unrelated topics . Hope it's okay to combine them into a single post . #1 In Rich Forhan's articles in the latest issue of RodMaker , he mentions using guide spacing of 5-6-7 down to the spiral wrap where he uses 6-6-6 . What does he mean by these number sequences ? #2 I have noticed that on several spinning surf casting rods in the 10 to 11 foot range the number o

Sam , What you're describing is a spiral wrap and the gentleman is correct regarding it doing away with the torque on a bait casting build . Not sure how many would agree with his guide placement formula but you can find a wealth of information here by doing a search for "spiral wrap". Ron

I checked out the M3 Tackle website . I'm not sure I've been to too many sites that don't list the location of the business ?? Couldn't find anything on the site that would suggest the physical location of their show room / warehouse ?? Totally academic anyway as I don't think I'll be doing business with them . Ron

It can't be said too often . Thank you for all of the work and time that went into developing this great resource . I agree with Matt Ruggie that it should be made a sticky - unless by doing so it would slow or reduce the amount of new data being added . Thank you again. Ron
