I use the lowest power for Crappie and small Bass, very entertaining.

You might find length to be an issue. But I would look for the fastest action 4 weight.

The hidden thread cover and the woven hood cover/grip came from NFC. I would hope it fits.

Looking for recommendations for a reelseat insert for an NFC carbon fiber casting reelseat. Their website states that the cutout and barrel are 15mm. I assume that is the ID and think I've found an American tackle insert. Do I have any other options?

IDK. I fish the 0 power as a Ultralight BFS setup alot. It handles up to a quarter ounce incredible well. The 5 plus power on these are bordering on Jetty sticks. I fish 2/3 oz spoons with 6-12 Okuma rods with CCS under 300 IP and launch 7/8ths Flying Cs on my st905 (which is nowhere near the 5 power APFG) The 5 power might have a fast tip, but it's super heavy for a 7 ft and few inch blank and h

I think the 5 power is overkill to be honest, based off of the CCS data . If you want distance, get something longer. For spinner and spoon fishing a 3 power or 4 power is more applicable.

I have unsanded fiberglass blanks built for plunking. 30 +years of use and abuse and the ridges still stand proud. I don't think you are going to wear them off.

Daiwa Alphas Sv TW 800s from Japan. Under 200 bucks to your door ais great for lighter presentations. Can get a Roro lightweight spool and throw lures to trout as well. Just be mindful that with casting gear, the rod plays a much larger role in casting than with a spinning setup. What blank are you using?

Aaron, Is it built as spinning? What size jig heads are you using?

What are the SB722? That looks somewhere in between the MB rod I have and the P703...both action wise and power.

Seems gimmicky, there is already no observable data that puts XRay over their HM blanks....including price. At 85 plus excise tax and free shipping, XRay is worth.....but would rather spring for an Eternity or cheaper Revelation blank (thr RX8 blanks are nice, but that finish adds a ton of weight).

That p703 looks close to what I want..based off the bend..

It's all open water fishing, I like the idea of the DS rods, but they might be too light. St Croix doesn't sell blanks so they are out.Id mostly be using the 1/16th ounce worm nose jighead (Do It molds) with a size 1 or 2 hook with the Ned baits....total weight of 5.6 grams. I'm still eyeing that Bushido SJ 4-8, just can't fund ccs data for it. I have an Eternity RX10 medium blank ( don't have th

I intend to build a rod for Ned rigging. I have a few that work but aren't precise. I have an NFC MB733, too powerful over all and too stiff in the tip. NFC APFG 710-1 Very nice, a bit too light in power and wanting something with more sensitivity. Maybe something more progressive. This blank tends to have a hard shutoff point. I just recently built a stream trout casting rod on thr 5 ft 3 in Ameriglass. It's quite nice, has a fairly fast but progressive action. Mine is spiral wrapped as it allows me to use 1 or so fewer guides and keeps the line off the blank when loaded deeply. With a Shimano SLX BFS, Kattobie Air Ceramic bearings and a Roro cb26 spool I can cast down to a 1/32nd ounce trout jig with a small 1.5 inch

I have a Century Stealth S1 10 ft built for Surf Perch fishing. I like the rod, can lean into it with 3 ounces for surf fishing or lob 8 when plunking for Chinook Salmon.

Has anyone coated a foam core with epoxy, as a split seat feature or winding check? I am looking to do some light weight Trout and Bass builds and don't really need full on grips...just a transition.

It's a 2 piece grip. Top portion slides over the bottom.

I've enjoyed my APFG710-1 from NFC. Only knock is the tip is almost too soft and the rod tends to lock up a bit, rather than bend with more resistance. I mainly fish with Do It Worm nose jigs (1/16th jigs with size 1 sickle hooks) and a small plastic. On a stock SLX BFS.

The timing thing is partly why I like the idea of glass. I bought a 5 ft 6 inch Okuma Celilo...figured 30 bucks wouldn't kill me. Immediately cut stock guides off and put a hodgepodge of Fuji single foot casting guides, spiral wrapped and went to fish the Deschutes at a few parks on thr north side of Bend. The rod was on the stiff side and pitching while peaking out of bushes was difficult. I us

I have an old Fenwick SP601 blank that my grandfather started building decades ago. But it needs a new ferrule, that is beyond my skill. Still on the long side, but it seems to be in the ball park, power wise.
