The ALPS Chuck was intended to do exactly what your asking for. A lathe would be nice, but it really depends on how much turning your planning on doing. Also there is tools to add to the ALPS Chuck for turning as well.

If your looking at a lathe but don't want to spend the money.. You could get an ALPS power wrapper with the Upgraded chuck included. Then the new tools that ALPS just released allows for ease of use turning cork and eva.

John, How about you come up to Sequim, WA and pull on all of our blanks and you can choose! We are right next to the hood canal bridge! Probably only 30 min or so.. We have several blanks that will work, but best to just come out and see yourself. We have rods even built that you can full test. Mike Thorson, Rod Designer, Can even work with you when you stop by.. Hope to see you!

Hi Marty and all, Thank you for everyones questions. The RainShadow Eternity2 is the only blank that has a carbon scrim. If you have any questions on any of our blanks and how they perform etc.. Although thank you for wanting a RainShadow Immortal rod blank, this would be a great build for you. I would suggest building on a cheaper blank to get used to it. Many of our customers love these 2 models that will give you similar properties as the Immortal Popping blank. Intermediate modulus Standard modulus Components: Its your choice.
