FWIW it seems that most factories disregard spine and build on the straightest axis. I know St. Croix and Sage do them this way.

Surely Decal Connection can handle this easily.

5. SE CD
Tom, the new SE CD on making cork, EVA and wood grips and handle is far and away the best CD you have ever offered.

What used to be called #441 Charcoal Grey by Gudebrod is close to what I think might be called "Dove Grey" if you look at the NCP variety. Otherwise the nylon, even with CP, is a bit darker.

I think Joe Moriaty from Custom Fly Grips made that grip.

Dollar for dollar, I think any name brand blank is going to be about the same. I don't see many bad quality blanks selling for above $50. You don't have to spend a fortune IMO.

I think a surf plugging blank or the heaviest 8' popping blank you can find would work well. Big snook are strong so just make sure you get something with enough power to fight them from the shore. Can't move around and go with them like you an in a boat so you need a little more power IMO.

How many, 10,000 or 15,000 copies and a half dozen had upside down mailling covers? NOt sure the printer's game is off at all. What difference does the mailling cover make? Do people really leave it on their mags after they have received it?

You mean the maling cover, not the actual cover, right? I don't pay any attention to the mailing cover since I pull it off anyway.

Hate to say it but since the advent of the Microwave guides I don't find much benefit from spending a long time worrying about guide set up. Just use the Microwaves and set up as instructed. Seems to cast about as well as its going to get. On lighter rods I'll use the butt and transition guide and then use small Pacbay Minimas for the running guides. Now plan to use the Airwaves for a better matc

Solar devices rarely work inside of most buildings. Solar means Sunlight. It's an outdoor thing.

This was not the first time at the Benton Convention Center. It was the 4th time. High Point was a good location. WinstonSalem has proven to be an even better one.

You might come out better just buying a ready made one or even a whole set for later use. Several sponsors carry them. I know Mudhole has them.

I was under the impression that St. croix did not sell seconds but destroyed them instead. Besides I would not want to build on a blank that had been returned for any reason. Just my .02

What length is the RDA "data" based on? You would have to build the rod just like whatever it was taken from for this to be accurate, right? Even then the idea that the part of the rod blank behind the reel seat does not count is in error I think. It is still the fulcrum so it still plays the same role.

I spotted some weldwood spray can contact cement at the local craft store. has anyone tried this and is it as good as the standard brush on stuff from the glass bottle? would like to cut down on the mess if possible.

Because people were asking for them. For every builder or fisherman that reaslizes the same thing you did there are two more that do not put any thought into it. They just want the latest and greatest and if you are in business why not give it to them.

The better question might be to ask what exactly are you trying to achieve with the carbon skin? Are you after the look or something else?

I have put two rods, a two piece and a four piece into a customers hands with his eyes closed and not yet has anyone been able to tell the difference. Same with one piece vs two piece. Nobody can do more than guess as they are that close. But I would not opt for more sections just to have more sections. That eats up time to assemble and disassemble. Just go with no more sections than you actually

Nothing on line ratings --- those are just subjective suggestions. The blank will never know what pound test line you've got on it.

Tom K.s book Rod Building Guide has a great chapter on basic crosswraps including chevrons. Step by step by step color pictures. I think crookedness comes more from bad alignment at the start than anything else but it shows how to make the wraps straight also.

One thing for sure...... you will have to use NCP thead to get the same color and shade as the John Deere color. They use paint and regular nylon thread with or without cp is not going to look like that. Use NCP thread whatever you do.

Yes and the larger diameter the better. Lots of foam cushion on the insides and at the ends.

Not talking about cents. That's just weight. If you don't measure from the same constants as specified by the CCS, then your results aren't actually CCS figures. If I take one of your blanks and support it as outlined in the CCS system the action angle and intrinsic power aren't going to be the same as what you list because you are measuring from a different point. My point is that it's okay if y
