If the seat is already on and in place you will just have to go back with it where it is. I would not trust putting any heat to the rod and even if you got the curve out it would probably come back as soon as the guy used the rod a bit.

Just my opinion but St. Croix has some great inexpensive blanks, made here in North America and offer good performance and quality. You might find there is no real reason to spend more than what you posted. Cannot remember what series they build their Imperial fly rods on but I think it is the SCII/SIV combo and those should fall in line with about what you want to spend. GREAT blanks.

I assume gatorglass is no more? Anyone know of any place to buy solid glass 20lb to 30lb boat rod blanks?

Just out of curiosity, are the specialty rod building wrapping threads treated to be UV resistent like the thread used for upholstry in car and boat interiors? I have had some face colorwise but no idea if the thread itself is weakening.

It looks to me like the factories just select a line size based on what they think the blank is going to be used for. So something that is designed for throwing spinner baits to largemouth bass is going to carry a rating of maybe 8 to 17 pound line. Not something like 30 to 40 line. A heavy surf rod is going to carry a rating of maybe 20 to 40 pound line, not something like 6 to 12 line. It's jus

There was a post earlier about tru oil not drying hard. I did have an old bottle of it once that never would dry hard. I think the problem was that it had got thicker and really thick coats take a long time to dry or do not dry well at all. Tru oil should be very thin. If it is sort of thick you may have an older bottle and might want to think about getting some fresh stuff.

Instead of Carp Caster I would have named it Surf Caster. This looks like it would be the ticket for larger surf reels with bigger 20 to 25 pound mono.

I think I have heard people here saying that titebond II is okay for cork grips? I have some and plan to use it today on some cork unless the consensus is that you really need to use the titebond III.

Got some Rodbond on an EVA grip. I know I can cut it off with a razor but that wil cause problems with the size and shape. Do I have any other options?

It was awesome and for magazine subscribers it was all free. Food and door prizes. Who else in the industry does this for their customers?

Only difference would be that it will take more lite build coats to equal what you might be able to complete with just one coat of a heavier build. No idea about mixing products. I don't like to do that. I know some do and get good results but I'm not going to tempt fate.

Your problem there is going to be that since the very largest rod building event in the entire world is held a few miles from there most local builders are probably full up on anything you try to put on there. Might be better in the fall. Most people are still reeling from the Expo just a few weeks ago.

PG is thinner and lighter and dries harder. Lumaseal is thicker and dries a little less hard. Both seem very flexible though.

Hmmmm, The magazine, the magazine reception at the expo each year, this website, the glossary, the photo page, the FAQS, the Online library, the buy sell page, the CCS info page, the public library program and who knows what else. Maybe Tom is at the point of being "valued out" right now?? But if not....

I think it would be safe to assume that Falcon uses very inexpensive oriential made rod blanks. They could not meet the price point if they didn't.

Nice! Had hoped to see you guys at the Expo last month. Would be neat to have Roger on hand to show all this stuff in person.

Being just average Joe Rod Builder I have no idea what the vendors take is. All I know is what I experience as a rod building consumer and traveling about 3000 miles for this event this year. I can honestly say that I get better value traveling 3000 miles to the Expo than the 200 miles I once traveled to another rod building event right here in my own state. The Expo is every bit that much better

Curious to know what others thought was the most innovative new product introduced at the Expo this past weekend. My vote goes to the new Rodgeeks blanks. Maybe I'm a sucker for the color stuff but I thought these really stood out from the crowd!

The show may be huge for a rod building event but not so huge that they won't be able to find you.

I tried some in a pinch a few years back and it worked OK. Got some cracking later but can't say if it was the MP or the epoxy I was using at the time.

Because of the way line comes off a casting reel I do not see any point in that microwave type butt guide. I doubt it does anything for or against you, so it should be okay to use on any type casting rod. Won't help and won't hurt. The guides look beefy enough for use on heavy duty casting rods IMO.

Janns, AW and Barlows all do it the same as Mudhole. Larger companies all seem to operate this way. So if you want only actual freight charges for each individual order you would have to go through one of the smaller companies that have time to do it that way.
