Yeah, they can look bad but don't seem to hurt anything really.

Website says they open for business on March 3. Looks like their public debut is going to be at the ICRBE in a couple weeks.

Will there be a ICRBE rod display area again this year? Can anyone submit a rod while there?

Both are nice hotels, the Marriot is even a little more upscale if that is possible.

I have no rod building children. If I did I sure would not mind them looking in here. Good people and nothing to worry about. CAnnot say the same about some other places...

Bulalrd is Envirotex. Pretty sure it isn't really meant for exterior use although some get by with it. Wonder if that's what got messed up.

OK that's fine, just thought I would mention it. There is a LOT more going on there than it looks like at first glance. The way its set it's very easy to miss the larger portion of it.

Yesterday I started looking down through the topics on the last several pages and noticed that there were probably a hundred or more posts and photos made here on RBO yesterday alone. But I never noticed how much went on because I only look at the new topics that go at the top of the page. Responses to older topics do not pop the original topic back to the top like they do on most other forums. S

Ferrules are built into the rod. No idea why they would say slip fit. What blank are you talking about?

Was at an office depot this morning getting some other stuff and noticed that avery labels has some metallic gold and silver labels available now. Bought a pack and plan to try out their use for decals. Looks promising.

You may actually see more in the catalog than you will in their showroom, however, there is a great deal to be said for being able to actually see, touch, feel, etc., the items you're interested in, not to mention being able to talk to someone on the floor there. If you're traveling in from any distance and it's only a short distance out of your way, it almost doesn't make sense not to pay th

I would think it would be easy enough to just try it on some sample wraps?

More and more my customers are telling me they want cork and only cork for their grips. EVA was all the rage over the years but am I wrong in seeing a trend back to mostly cork? Was wondering what your percentage of cork, vs, EVA, vs Carbon vs anything else for grips might be these days.

There have been a half dozen articles in Rodmaker mag on how to make various kinds of decals. Or you can just call up Decal Connection and have them make what you need. They have a link in the sponsor column.

Following up on an earlier post I made on finishes I remember that Trondak had a water base finish out a few years ago at the ICRBE. Did they ever introduce it? I can't find it.

You're just going to have to look down the list of sponsors and see who else might carry similar products. Janns and Anglers Workshop are two I'd take a look at.

I want to paint some crankbaits and plan to use regular krylon enamel. But want to coat with them something clear, hard and waterproof. Not epoxy. What if any rod building products are out there that I can use for this. I would think Permagloss would be too hot and might melt the enamel. Janns has some plug coatings. Was wondering if you guys have used them and what you think of them. Thanks.

Seems to me that there's been a sale somewhere by somebody every week here going back as long as I can remember. My guess is that a half dozen will announce some sort of sale in the next day or so.

Since I cannot drive to any of these places and buy the stuff in person I never worry about shipping charges. They are always less than it would cost me to drive to the shop especially if my time is worth anything at all.

I appreciated all the responses. Beeswax might have worked but I decided not to take the chance. Got a block of paraffin from the grocery and ran it up and down the mandrel a few times. Nothing heavy just some firm swipes. Shaped and removed the grip this morning with a quick snap of the wrist. Perfect. Thanks everybody.

All the metallics I know of are metallic around some sort of core. Is there such a thing as all metallic thread? A solid type?

Yeah it sounds like a gimmick to me. If that angle really do any good, which I doubt it does, you can get the same thing by just bending the guide ring portion.

For finishing, is there any reason that a flat end brush is better than a larger round end brush? Curious to know what most guys use for epoxy.
