I used a motor out of a microwave. A motor out of a rotissere out to work too. Should be able to pick one up for next to nothing at a Goodwill or Salvation Army store.

Tried my first 4 axis diamond wrap yesterday. Everything was going great and looking good until I got to the last 2 passes. Thread was OK at the butt end of the wrap but couldn't make it fit in at the tip end..
The blank tapers very slightly from 6.5mm at the butt end of the wrap to 5.5mm at the tip end. My question is do I just need to do a better job of packing at the tip end or should I be

Tom,
Spool diameter is 37mm, reel seat to center of spool is 75mm. Spool to choker is 1 meter.
Maybe I need to go to a higher 20mm butt guide? Like a Fuji YSG?
Using 6lb mono. Choker and runners are Fuji BLAG's.

Building a 7' spinning rod which is 2 piece. Layed out choker per NGC 27x formula. My stripper guide is 22" in front of the reel face based on line slope from reel to choker. The stripper is a 30mm. I have 6" from the stripper to the top of the bottom section and 12" on the top section between the choker and and the bottom end of the top section. The bottom of the top section f

Scott,
Was looking for something like shades of red (light to dark then back again) on one spool. Same thing for blue and green.

14. Cutting EVA Grip
Getting ready to start my build in a long time. I have an EVA foam grip that I'd like to shorten. Never worked with the stuff before, so I'm asking the experts here for advice.
Thanks in advance.

Just checked the WEL-TEC, LLC website (http://wel-tec.com) and apparently they got the Gudebrod â„¢ as part of the deal. The website is not fully operational yet. Their E-Mail is info@wel-tec.com.

Building a spinning rod using NGC. Measured the lip of the reel spool and got 45mm. Multiplied by 27and got 1215mm. Converted to inches and got 47.8". Measured out that distance from the front of the reel and marked position of the choker.
This is on a 7' blank and puts the choker guide 24" from the tip.
Does this sound right to you?

The butt guide (30) is slightly larger than half the spool lip diameter. My real concern is whether the 6mm guides will handle 12 lb mono.

Am building a 7' spinning rod using NGC. Thinking that a 30, 16, and 6's the rest of the way out ought to work. Will be using 8-12 mono line. What are your thoughts and ideas on this?
Thanks in advance

22. Guide Sizing
What would be the smallest size running guide I can use on a spinning rod using 12 lb monofiliment Line? I'd like to go with size 6.

Dennis,
It was a great job. Left the house at 5AM, rode my bicycle 6 miles to be there at 5:30, and worked till 3 PM.

Dennis,
Wish I had some of the old stuff left, but 45 years ago I was building rods in a tackle shop as a summer job while I was in high school.

I've decided to build rods again after 45 years. Everything has changed since the old days. Back then we were still using solid glass blanks, rod varnish, and Gudebrod wrap. My first will be a panfish/light saltwater spinning rod. I'm looking for ideas on blanks, wrap, and finishing products.
Now that retirement is here, I need something to keep me busy.
Thanks in advance.

It's been over 40 years since I built my last rod. Back in the good old days, Gudebrod was the standard. I'd like opinions frm users of both products. Has anyone had problems with Either? Will be using size A thread.
Thanks in advance for your reply's
