Guess it broke in two places and the only thing that didn't go in the drink was handle to the stripper guide. Haven't seen what's left yet. First rod I ever put my name on. Thanks fellas I had some trouble with bubbles on this rod. I'm stripping it and starting over. I heard the PC helps but just wanted to confirm. My flex coat was also tacky and didn't cure correctly. Bummer. I need the practice anyway. The main reason I asked was because I was goin to get some metallic thread for the trim as John said. thaks guys always good stuff!! Rick

Hey Guys, Have a Newbie question for ya. Does anyone apply CP to Color Fast thread? And do you apply the finish right after you apply the CP or do you let dry on drying stand like the flex coat?? How long if so does it set like the flex coat. I'm building my 4th rod and have never used CP. My other rods look O.K. but this rod has alot more trim rings and over wraps.Think I'm getting the h

WOW, Matt your idea is what I kind of had in mind. (great minds must think alike LOL) Good stuff guys. I'm not a fan of the Aero's. I'm sort of old school and like cork handles. I'm considering the hidden hood on the Fuji HPS uplocking with cork insert even with top of skeleton seat. I don't care for forgrips just added weight as I hold reel with one finger around stem of reel and palm on

I have ordered off of Mudhole alot of different times, never a problem. I've even forgot to order a tip top for my boys rod. i called them up and the salesman added it to the outgoing order with no added shipping or anything. I also had some questions on some blanks and other products which he phisically weighed and let me know the weight while running all over the wherehouse checking dif

Yes it's a sweet lookin blank! I've narrowed it down to either the PRO XP 843 or the MX-S72M-B. The Gloss Black on the XP is the effect I'm going for and is still made in U.S. I think. I don't know the color of the M1. But I'll definetally find out. I think I'll check out TT for there reveiw thanks MATT. Rick

Hey guys Well i used D size thread on moma's rod (rewrapped it) it worked GOOD!! I can see it alot better. put 2 coat of flex coat on and it came out very nice. The rod acually balances 1/2 inch up from the stem of the reel and is still extremely light. This rod was more of an assembly than a build if that makes any sense (first rod) it cast a mile and most important SHE likes it. Maybe I can

Well I got some D size thread coming to see if it will work. I'm still very green at this so trial and error is my best way to learn. Time is not an issue because it's my own rod. Lot of good suggestions and idea's from you guys! I just hope I can get as good as most of you guys with time and practise. I think I'm goin to try the Head magnifier. The guides are Fuji alconite concept guides for a 7' spin set. I haven't got the guides placed on the blank yet so the sizes aren't set in stone. Got an extra 25 size and acouple extra 5s and 6s to see what works best . I'm waiting on a backordered windin

Hey guys I'm biulding two spinning rods. One for me and one for moma. I wrapped hers with A size color fast thread and had a hard time seeing (poor eyesight} the thread. I've thought about magnifying glass (hands free) but haven't found anything I care to spend the coin for. Have any of you used D size thread on fresh water rods or is it just too big ? Thanks for any addvise or ways to ma

Hey guys, Another Newb question. So when you get your guides wrapped how tight should the thread be? should you be able to move the guides at all? or should they be able to slide sideways alittle incase one moved alittle and you need to realine acouple? Just don't want to screw them up getting close to finishing first rod and don't want any suprises when the flex coat dries. Thanks Ric
