Hey guys,
Another Newb question. So when you get your guides wrapped how tight should the thread be? should you be able to move the guides at all? or should they be able to slide sideways alittle incase one moved alittle and you need to realine acouple? Just don't want to screw them up getting close to finishing first rod and don't want any suprises when the flex coat dries. Thanks Rick Re: Thread tension?

Rick,
I like to wrap the rods, so that I can just barely move the guides. When that is the case, I don't have a guide moving, if I happen to tap it when the rod is being moved around the shop before coating. Take care Roger Re: Thread tension?

Rick, wrap them so that you are able adjust the alignment with slight effort. Don't go too tight that you cannot move them. Unnecessary tension can cause the foot to damage the blank ,look at some factory rods after you cut off a quide and you see what I mean. Freddwhy (Rapt-Ryte) Re: Thread tension?

I like to wrap the tight, sometimes I think it's too tight - none-the-less they are wrapped at a tension that the guide can be adjusted with effort and not cause any blank damage. Re: Thread tension?

Hi Rick,
I'm with Roger on that one. They shouldn't be easy to move if required. ESFNEM Col Port Kembla, NSW Australia Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
