Hey guys,
Got a NEWBIE question.
I was fitting my minima spin(Pac bay) reel seat today and was wondering if you can get them to tight? When slid down to where I want it it is VERY tight! Is this O.K. or do I want to ream it out a bit so epoxy has room between blank and seat?
It's squeeky tight!!
Thanks Rick

I've read Tom's book and was blown away on how much more there is to putting a rod together than I thought.
But the more indepth it get's the more i like it!!
I'm putting a fuergo 2000 on this rod. It will pretty much be on the rod a long time as I service and maintain all my reels religously.
I won't be fishing anything over 8lb fluoro on this rig. this will be my own personal stick so

Just wandering what size guide most of you go with on the stripper guide. Or do I need to test cast with different sizes to get the best size? Yes I'm a newbie and lookin to save a little time or is the time spent switching sizes worth it? The blank is a 7' M F Spin SV5 croix blank if this helps.
Thanks Rick

do any of you have a trick to sanding cork grips without a lathe? I'm building my first rods and want a smooth transition from grip to reel seat and i don't have a lathe.
Thanks Rick

I think i'm goin to use an older Berkley Bionix rod i have in the corner of garage. Was out digging around this morning and found it in a stack of old rods of mine. it will be for one of my boys so it doesn't have to be a specific tech rod more of a multi purpose deal. It's a 6'6 m f rod. i think using an old rod will help i'll already know were the spine is and guide positions. Goin to try the M
