Hey guys,
I'm somewhat of a newbe, I've made 2 spinning rods (now I couldn't imagine buying another rod) I look at alot of new rods to get ideas and such. Anyway I'm wondering if anyones knows where I could get a reel seat/ handle assemble like the ones on the Pheonix M1s, Camuras, orNRX rods were the threads on the reel seats are hidden and are seemless. Or if theres a trick to making them. I don't have a lathe or power wrapper just an upstart hand wrapper i made myself. any tips or info is VERY appreciated. Thanks Rick Re: New reel seats

Fuji KDPS hood on a spinning or casting reelseat in sizes 16 and 17mm is what you see. Pictures of the VSS reelseat system shows the foregrip options that go with it. Re: New reel seats

Rick,
You can always cut off the excess threads with a rotary tool, and clean up with a little sanding. I usually cut mine to fit the largest reel foot I use. For the split seats, there are the Fuji SK2 seats, Pac Bay minima seat, or you can chop up an existing seat. If you don't want to cut a seat, you can always go to the hood designs that hide the threads. Joe Re: New reel seats

Thanks fellas
Spencer I think that is exactly what I'm lookin for. So the outside sleeve threads onto the inside and the hood stays stationary? I used minima reel seats on my second rod. A 7' M F croix SV5 that I like. I just wish i'd have seen this before.. Rick . Re: New reel seats

The reel seats on the rods you mentioned are downlocking. The pictures of the rods (the ones I see on the internet) are with the hood in the center position, hiding the threads. David Dosser Coshocton, OH Re: New reel seats

Rick,
I'm in Dover. I doubt I'll make breakfast this month, but feel free to shoot me an email as well. Sorry, when I originally read your post, I thought you were looking at no fore grip rods with the threads hidden away. Joe Re: New reel seats

Joe
That is what I'm looking for on my spinning reels. I don't care for foregrips on a rod and all my rods are split grips. Dover huh. Who would of thought so many biulders this close to me. Thanks for the info guys!! Rick Re: New reel seats

Rick,
Hope to see you can make it to one of our breakfasts sometime. Here's another way to go. In order to make my spinning rods more comfortable, I've gone to woven graphite split TN handles with the reel wrapped on with thread and finish. If you don't change reels often, you won't find a more comfortable grip. I got the idea from a series of articles by Steve Gardner about his handle building techniques. If you do change reels regularly, you can go with the reel wrapped on with tape. A couple wraps of strapping tape with the fibers running through it, and wrapped over top with electrical tape or teflon tape (like used on pipe threads) will work well. The difference between a rod without a reel seat vs. a rod with a reel seat is impressive. Joe Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
