91. Winn Grips
Does anyone have any feed back on using Winn grips? I like the way they look and am considering using them on my next rod. But I have heard a few guys mention that they do not like the way the grips feel, especially when it is hot and sunny.

I started out using denatured alcohol on paper towels, but those were a lint nightmare. Switched to Scott Shop Towels, and those are ok as long as I'm not working with Winn grips. Most of what I've been working with lately is Winn grips, so I'm looking for a better solution. Anyone have a more lint free product for wiping away excess epoxy?

93. Grip Poll
Being newbies to the hobby and having and having no friends who share the intrest, we glean most informative questions from this forum. I know people like different grips for different applications. But if you had to choose one overall grip material what would it be and why?

I was looking through some old catalogs and love the picture in the center of the 2017 Anglers Resource catalog. I would like to build a spinning rod using a size 16 seat like the one in the photo using gold trim rings without a carbon tube and fore grip. I would prefer to use a one piece seat with the gold trim at the end. Is this possible and does anyone have suggestions for seats to use with

I am disappointedly surprised and would have expected Winn grips to be more durable and suitable to saltwater applications than the response to my first related post indicates. Thank you for the replies and saving me the agony of replacing an ocean rod grip (or 2 or 3)!!! It is truly unfortunate with all the attributes of the Winn grips they cannot withstand the forces applied in saltwater applic

The overwhelming majority of you (and I assume your customers as well) have taken a liking to the Winn Grips, and probably rightfully so considering their huge impact in golf, racket-sports and bicycling. I am a traditionalist, maybe even an ol’ stick-in-the-mud when it comes to fishing rods and use cork on all my builds except saltwater rods which are in and out of rod holders all day long. Gene

I use Winn grips on my clubs, they are very soft. They are by far my favorite grip. I do club repair and I almost exclusively install these things, we all love them. The only downfall is we will wear them out in one season, 2 if we don't play as much, and that is 13 grips that need replacing. Has anyone used the fishing grips on a consistent basis? Now that they have been around for a couple of y

What’s up guys, first post here. Did a little research about the Winn grips and seems most posts are about installing split grips. I am thinking of putting the longer rear Winn grip on my next build. Rod has a butt of .73 and the biggest winn grips have a .50 ID. Do they require reaming or can you lube them up and slide them down like EVA? They aren't cheap, and don't want to screw it up too bad.

101. Epoxy
So I’m about to build a carbon fiber Tennessee handle for a drop shot rod. I want to thread the reel on the reel seat and then epoxy it . My question is what type of epoxy is best for this scenario? Can I use flexcoat, thread dancer...etc or is there a bettter epoxy for the job? Thanks guys

Took the advice on an earlier thread and decided to try out the Fuji VSS 16-15 instead of the VSS 16. I ordered the FGV16RC rear grip not really thinking about it, and it doesn't fit. Should I have ordered the Size 17 FGV grip? Or is there another grip that fits this thing? Thanks!

Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone has used a North Fork ?HS 821-1 (HM) for a walleye rod. I asked them and they recommended the HS series in the salmon steel head category. I will be using it for pulling spinners with bottom bouncers ranging from one ounce up to two ounces if needed. It says this will handle up to 4 ounces so I was wondering if I should go down a size also. Any information w

Does anyone agree with me that Tuned Up Custom Rods are not custom. Every rod has a cork handle and the blanks are the same. I have been building rods for three years, and no two rods are alike. My customers pick out every part of the rod. I also paint my blanks, if my customers what custom color themes.

Like to stay on top of my winter hobbies like rod building and crankbait painting. In the past year has any product, component or technique changed the way you would build a casting/spinning rod? I'm aware and use the Fuji KR concept, but that first appeared a few years back. Made a reverse boring bit for grips on my last casting rod builds a week ago. Thanks, Tuna

I like the feel of this rod but of course want to build it myself. Any blank suggestions that fall in line with this description?
Designed for jerk baits like the Megabass X-80 TRICK DARTER, VISION ONETEN, and MAGNUM, the Megabass OROCHI XX 68XX JERKBAIT SPECIAL features a parabolic bend and a 6’8” length that is perfect for quick, precise rod action. Ideally suited for lure weights of ¼ to ¾oz.

110. EVA grip/handle.
I dredged up a rod in the lake and the cork is deteriorated. It's a basspro extreme casting rod with the funny reel seat. It looks like the Fuji ACS one. What I'm asking is how to put the EVA on with the rod blank coming out of the bottom of the reel seat instead of the center. The blank measures .475 at the butt. Thanks.

Will the Fuji KSKSS/ASH - Hidden Thread Hood work on a VSS reel seat? Never tried it but it looks like it should . I was going to use the perfect fit cover on it.
Thank,s Tom

115. New rod questions.
Yesterday I lost my favorite worm rod, a Basspro 85 million modulus 6' casting 8-17 lb line. I use 8 lb fluorocarbon line and a 1/8th oz worm weight and a zoom finesse worm. I need to build another rod very similar to that one. What blank/s would you recommend and what reel seat. I built a couple of Batson Immortal blanks that I like and an MHX but they were lighter spinning rods. Thanks for

116. Point Blank question
I'm considering a Point Blank build for myself. How do the ratings compare to reality? I know a St Croix MH is a different animal than, say, a Loomis MH. Just using those examples as a basis for comparison. I don't pay much attention to power ratings, knowing the arbitrary nature of such ratings.
Looking at the PB701MF and PB701MHF. Which one would be closest to the the classic 1/4-3/4oz, 10

I have a request to build a custom bass fishing rod using the Pink Winn Grips. Has anyone used this color and if so, what color thread and make did you use to match the grips. MudHole Custom Tackle suggested the ProWrap #301 or #313.

Hey guys,
I tried the search function here with no luck. I am considering putting the Winn overwrap tape on an upcoming build and was just curious how it has held up for anyone with experience using it. This build will be for throwing Pounder sized Bulldawgs and Husky Medussas. These are really large baits and get used well into December. The torque put on the grips from casting and the rip/
