Just one thing to add Jason, EVA over time will get hard and even brittle if not taken care of. EVA will also loosen as it ages. Hypalon, at least for me does a better job in most cases depending on the application, and no matter what I always glue my grips on. Over the last 38 years of building, compressed air works well but with age grips do get lose. Tight lines, John Hernandez

Hi Tom, B&M Tackle in Glendora California has been around for a long time. I am 50 now and can remember going there at an early age. Leon Todds (Calstar) brother Jim Todd worked there for years. They carried Sabre, Bowning Silaflex and Fenwick blanks until Leon left Sabre and started Calstar. Buck and June Melon sold everything you needed to make state of the art rods even back then.

Hi David, If you ever want to make that a power wrapper a great place to find turning motors is thrift stores. I have a few singer motors that are pretty much new and work great. It seems lots of folks get rid of oldsewing machines and lots of them end up in thrift stores. You can usually pick them up for about 10 to 25 dollars depending on condition. Just thought I would put my two sense

Todd, A great place to find turning motors for a fraction of the cost is at trift stores. Old singer or brother sewing machines have great motoers and in many cases the same exact motors that the mid range power wrappers come with. I have two spare motors that I picked up from thrift stores for $12.00 and $25.00. They are both virtually in new condition. Depending on the kind of base you a

I found a alternate epoxie source at Joannes Fabrics & Crafts. It's called Enviro Tex Lite Pour On High Gloss. It's a 2 part just like the others but goes on so much better I think. It's bout 20-25% less than most of the other finishes. I have used it for about a year and have had no issues with it at all. Honestly I think it's better than the other big mfg's. The bubbles hassels are li

I am looking for acrylic squares about 1" square 1/8" to 3/16" thick in several colors. I used to have a local supplier but with the economy the way it is, they went under and now I am looking for another source. Any ideas or direction would be greatly appreciated

Joe/Rick, Welcome to the world of obsessive compulsive disorder. I've been building rods for about 38 years and the enjoyment is still there. Take your time and be open minded and listen to these guys and ladies, they are masters of their craft. They all have opinions and preferences on components and blanks and colors....... The list goes on and on, but the one big thing we have in common i

I have a bed that runs 12' total length, but I do lose about 8" due to turning motor. I build some jig ticks that are 10' so the 12' bed is an advantage.

Gents, I have to agree with Tom on the guides. Especialy with #10 or less braid. No memory on the line will allow itto run straight and smooth. If iam building rods for someone that is running with light braid I start with a high frame 16 and end with 4's or even 2's. I took the idea when I built some prototypes for a friend of mine and thouroughly enjoyed the action and castabiity. Tight
