You know I just can't do that. Besides any legal issue with a copyright infringement I wouldn't feel right at all (morally) about stealing someone else's idea. I too thought Batson was going to be the distributor and that they would be available at the ICRBE. As far as I know at this time no one has any available for sale.

I agree that this would make an outstanding article for RODMAKER. Thanks for outlining the process here but it would get more exposure and interest with a magazine article (with photos).

Try Lance Dupre .. Email me and I'll send you his contact info. He is no longer a sponsor here and I don't want to upset anyone who is.

'Zactly ..... I've been waiting and waiting. I have a prototype and just may look for a shop to make more for me (not for sale).

I found that speaking with local fishing clubs about fishing rods in general helped me quite a bit. Present the basics and speak to the 'upgrades'. For example: the advent and improvements over time of guides with inserts (bring samples with you attached to a "comparison stick". Be ready to discuss the differences between fiberglass and graphite blanks - and their usefulness under di

Did anyone at the ICRBE offer the 'triangle chuck" for sale? Anyone have any insight on if they will make the market?

Not to toss cold water - been sort of out of sorts with lower back & hip "issues". Comes after a combination of age and doing silly things when I was younger ... airplanes were really not supposed to be jumped from.

Now that I'm regaining some time I'll start back looking into how this could be either brought to market - along with cost. What I can tell you off the top is that this would be more expensive than any of the two part epoxies on the market today and thus would be more suited to a shop that does lots of repairs. This type system would save lots of physical space used by driers/drying boxes but a

In all the literature I've read and all the different products I've tried this is the one that I feel is most appropriate for use on fishing rods (threads). Note this is a one-part liquid. The 'problem' that I have run into in trying to bring this forward for use is in finding a small, safe curing light. Admittedly I have not looked to see what has come on the market in the past year or so in

So - is someone going to do this? Innovation comes not from following but from testing. Personally I have not tried this and probably will not.

105. Safe travels
Hoping that everyone traveling to the ICRBE in Winston Salem has a safe, enjoyable trip and a great time at the show. The seminars look to be fantastic this year as well as the several rod competitions that will be going on. Good luck to all in finding and buying all that you hope for.

Looks like a scam to me. If you decide to follow up demand payment for all parts up front

I like my original prototype very much. I did have to find sturdier rubber bands to use on it - but that may have been addressed. There are lots of options for stronger bands - those used for girls' pony tails; those used for dog elastic bands; those used for expanding the 'new age' large earlobe earring 'pads'.

I have one of the prototypes from the first year they were showcased and have been waiting to purchase more since then. Again MY UNDERSTANDING is that some improvements were made to the original that delayed their release.

1/ scuffing good idea to create a water free break surface (also increases surface area slightly) under handles & seats - not a good idea under guides as it serves no real purpose
2/ hardly ever unless you are looking at a very heavy class rod.
3/ CP will give you some options on final thread color / sparkle. to each his/her own best to do a test wrap for your self to see the re

111. Re: thread art
Once you get the basic idea (from any of the sources already listed) get Steve Paterson's DVD to learn how to keep intricate patterns aligned and tight. Oh, my DVD really does not go into 'thread art' much at all so you can bypass that for fancy thread wraps.

Sorry I was away from the computer for a few days. You can either let the drywall tape / epoxy set & cure and then turn down OR you can slide the reel seat down onto a wet mix. IMO the best overall method is to allow it to set up then turn down so that you KNOW the tolerance (distance / gap) between the reel seat and the new outside diameter of the rod.

What was installed below (butt section) of the reel seat? If it is hypalon/EVA cut it off. The reel seat is loose already which means it will back off or slide forward. Likely the distance (gap) between the rod blank and the inside of the reel seat was too large. The EVA/hypalon foregrip can also be cut off. EVA / hypalon will expand quite a bit so installing a new piece should also not prese

Start with Tom Kirkman's book. Very easy to read and understand and covers all the basics. If you are 'handy' (as you stated) check the photo section for lots of things you can build yourself - and read the Glossary, Directory and Library here. Tons of information to be had
