I would just like to know how some do it over other's,I personally like to use a bolt cut down until it is at it's lightest point but still balances the rod and I only balance my bass rods. I always hear people talking about using led shot in the butt of there rod to balance it out but how do you stop all those led shots from shifting down to the front of the rod.

Put one your first coat of epoxy and top that coat off with some heat like it shows on YouTube and let the excess epoxy drip off and this should also help with any bubbles in the epoxy. After letting it turn and dry you can put on a second coat if needed but if all is covered and looks good I would not worry to much about doing any more to it.

I have always setup my guide setups in the following order 12.10.8.8.8.8. Tip Top 8 because the next size always seams to be a size 7 and the only Tip Tops that I can find to follow would be a ring size 6 and that just seams a bit to small to me. I would be very interested to hear from all of you just how you setup your guide sets on you casting rods. Please give a Example for a 6.6 or ev

There is nothing that you did wrong but I have used metallic on a few of my larger bait casting rods and I have found that colors like Gold metallic tends to fade after a bit of use in the sun but a few times is like 10 or more trips out in the sun. The next time that you use metallic thread on your wraps you my want to put a few coats of CP on the Metallic thread even if some people will say it

This guy wants a 6.6 MHX rod for fishing 40 ft or water for trout,so my problem is that MH is to heavy for trout and a Med rod is kind of in the middle and a Lite power rod is to lite for fishing that deep. I did find one MHX blank in the Med/lite power but it is a spin jig rod blank and this will be a casting rod so will a spin jig blank work just the same as it needs to have a bit of power also

MIX Mag taper or standard Fresh Water Blanks and also this rod will be for Tout fishing in 30 to 50 feet of water so this one is a bit tricky and he would be using anywhere from 1/2oz to 1oz of weight so would the MHX Mag taper or standard Fresh Water Blank be better and also the action (MH or Med) as this is for deeper water and for Trout from a boat. ?????????????

I made a box for this same problem as would alway get 1 thread get twisted into the others,so I took a small box and drilled 4 hole in the bottom to mount post for the thread spools to go onto and then I drilled 4 hole in the front of the box. The next thing that I did was install 4 metal snaps like the one's that one would use in leather making to plug the holes on a belt strap and the thread wo

The next time you put finish on your guides you can always use what I call the drop Method which one simply puts 1 or two drops of finish on top and 1 more on the bottom of the wrap letting the dryer turn and do all the work for you and if needed you can put 1 drops of finish on both sides of the guide wrap. I have been doing it this way for years and I always get a perfect finished look on my ro

Never had a problem with Hot Melt Tip Top glue or 5 min epoxy but I have seen lots of people come in for a tiptop repair and told me that they used hot melt craft glue to fix it them self and I told them that is the reason that it came off in the first place as craft glue will melt in Hi Heat.

John Samuels Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- What I was asking was not is Rayon can be used for rod wrapping as we all know that it can't because of the silicon coating on it but if one can use the Rayon thread that has the metallic tinsel over the Rayon thread as I would think that the tinsel would eliminate the problem with the silicon coating all together.

You sure can I have always done this and I also sand down all my Butt wraps using a High speed wrapper and anything from 120 grit to 180 grit sand paper to smooth out all the rough finish. After this is done just clean it up and put a new coat of finish over it for the final product just make sure that you have 2 to 3 hard dried coats of finish on the Butt Wrap first and that will work with any f

If one where to wrap with Rayon thread there is most often a problem with fish eye's do to the coating over the Rayon thread that rod wrapping epoxy does not normally like. My question is if one were to use a Metallic Rayon thread would you still run into the same problem's with fisheye and bonding since the Rayon thread has a metallic tinsel around it and there for removing the Rayon all togethe

I think that the comb idea is a bad idea especially if using Gudebrod thread as a comb will tend to tier the metallic off of the thread.
