I havent posted anything for some time but this one is very special on several levels. Hope any of you who know or have heard of T REX will take time to post something.
There is a bit of a story behind this rod. A dear friend, Teresa Radigan, asked me to please build her a rod even though I was retired. I had met her first at a gathering in Woodland Washington. She was just one of those types

Just finished the rod for the Chuck Byron Memorial tournament by doing tigers under each guide. The moneys gathered from the tournament and rod @#$%& go directly to funding a project for young marine artists. A great project put on by his surviving widow Lori.
Since some of the detail is obscured when I resize the pictures, anyone wanting to see them in larger detail can email me and I wi

This time there is Black, Dk Green,Yellow and Medium green in the underwrap. Three coats of finish. Stickers one coat of finish. Two over wraps with Dr Green and 3 sacrificials all in opposing directions. The camera does not do it real justice. It did give me some more ideas to try too.

Thank you so much Jorge it was a wonderful surprise and thanks for teh wonderful senti

I used a tiger wrap of Met. gold and brown under with Brown open over to be the base wrap for two single chevrons with a turn around to try to match up with the handle not in color but in impression. Putter made the labels with the alps. In the sun this puppy comes to life.

103. K4K III Handle Area
Though I have s weave in here it is obvious the bulk of the artistic work here belongs to Mark Blabaum. Weave by me and Putter is the MIC of the trim work and labels. It is like holding a feather and of course the pictures in now way trully represent how wonderful the workmanship is.

105. Just another Tiger
Another tiger that came out really nice. It is on the tip end of a small gaff. Blue and Yellow under, 5 coats of finish(weight isnt an issue in most gaffs) and Black open over. When you move this one things REALLY change. Thanks again Scott.

106. Oct. Project Lami
Fun little UL Lami for a little trout/panfish action. Put a Smallie weave in the split grip area. Tiger wrap is almost spooky. Not as easily viewed as some others but you know its moving. Lime and met. Silver with black open over.

112. Tiger Experiments
Questions have arisen about different thread sizes and the effects on Tiger wraps. This experiments show Red and White under with Blue open over. To to bottom is A,B and E. Again Photos dont really give a totally accurate image but it might help a little.

Top two are the side view and the bottom two are the dorsal view of the not so Identical twin wraps. How many can pick out the differences.

As you can seee I spent quite a bit of the last Month working with Billys favorite color. This is thanks to Tom Walters hard work. Obviously I wanted to show the growth of the dragon. Again hours far beyond your imagination. 166x220 threads 6 layers and 56mm with D thread. Now I can go back to some of the quick weaves in the 20 to 30 hour range. This starts to approach the four letter word

Special thanks to Jim Upton for allowing me to play with his pattern. Also a special thanks to Tom Walters for working on the pattern for me. Dont even ask how long it took. 178x220 threads and seven layers. All madeira and B Gudebrod. Length 45mm I think it would have been better with size D as the wrap thread. I have a much better appreciation for Jimmy and Hiros dragons.
