This has been in the works for a while and probably will take a bit longer as my plate is a bit full so my work time is way down. I took a bunch of pictures of the inlays and JTOBs in progress for a possible pictorial in the future. Did a multi axis box type pattern crosswrap and 3 thread tiger with one over and 2 sacrificials. Have a new eagle and flag weave to go yet and of course the guides b

It has been a LONG journey in many ways but the World Rod started by Mark Blabaum a long time ago is now done. I was the last to add to this masterpiece and it took a while since I have been so sick, lame and lazy(old military line). My original plan was to do something way out with Matt but our schedules never seemed to jive and I decided to just do something more mainstream. This project got it

Not happy with this tiger. Tried a little experiment that didnt produce like I wanted. Probably better suited for a mono wrap. At least the olive branches came out nice.

While testing some CP and finish combos I decided to not waste everything and do some samples. OBs are an easy and quick way to dress up a rod. Kind of looks like Easter eggs

This puppy is one of the most fun weaves I have done in a long time. No reason for doing it, Just for fun and I love how it came out. 78x143 threads and 4 layers. Sorry for the 3 pictures of the same subject. The top one is before it was tightened and packed and still layed out in the jigs. This is after the packing, CP, Rolling and Finish

Lots of lessons to be learned hear. First and easiest to explain. Picture on the far left was taken on black felt and the other two on gray felt in full sun. The pictures havent been fixed with color or exposure fixes. Straight off the chip. Lesson = colors are righer and truer on a gray(maybe any neutral) backround. Next lesson. Notice that the first and third pictures have a haze over the black

My fising buddy needed another rod so I fixed her up with a good one for yellowtail and 30 to 40 pound tuna. Under wraps are tigers with white, hot pink, 2 reds under and white with three sacrificials over.

Vicki is my fishing buddie and goes on every BG 90 charter and in fact contributes to the give aways with mounts and stuff from World Wide Fish mounts. Well if she had her way every rod I ever made would be hers. Well this was a white blank and I did the guides with a tiger underwrap of white, Hot Pink, and two strands of red(total 4 threads) with a white and 3 sacrificials. The first over of pin

This is a design sent to me quite some time ago by Ray. I loaded it into P2W and modified it to personalize it. It is one a cane belonging to a dear friend of my Dads and I gave it to her the day we put him to rest. She loves to feed hummers. I stressed the metallics on purpose but it didnt come out as I expected. I will switch to Maderia florescents if I do it again. She still loved it.

Playing with the technique pioneered by Jim Trelikes. I used two siz A threads wrapped around a C or D thread in reversing directions. In one case it is two lt. blue in the other one dark and on lt. blue. These pictures unfortunately intensify the CP problem I had on the black thread.

A little tweeking to an old favorite. 87x104, 6 layers, and a very long time. Some days I could only do 5 or 10 wraps because of my trips back and forth to the Hospital. First time with A pattern and C wrap. I used the Jim Trelikes Olive Branch reversed on either side of the wrap. The ones on the black look specked due to CP issue. I did not use CP on the weave backround thus it is much bet

Played with different inlay techniques. One is sort of my usual style he other is done using the Jim Trelikes "olive branch" technique. It really lends a lot of class to a build. In this case I did it a bit different by using two size A threads wrapped around a Metallic D thread. You may notice some sparkles or hazing that is a result of trying a CP that works well on colors

Wanted to see what I would come up with in this 4 thread tiger. Black, Blue, White and Red Electra under then the same over but subbing 326 for Red Electra and then removing the Black and the white. A little disappointed I didnt get more of a color change like flip flop paint but it came out OK just not as wild as I was looking for. The rod is a Super Seeker of some kind given to me by a young

Enjoyed this with the Blue Electra and some special thread I received from a friend in Japan. Incredible in the sunlight although I lost some of the detail in the inlays using the yellow and metallic teal
