Nice to return to older and simpler stuff oncen in awhile. Compared to the stuff I am working on now this was a walk in the park but still nice on a rod.

Kustom for Kids Rod
Part Deaux - Done and ready for the raffle.
This year's edition of the Kustom for Kids rod displays the awesome workmanship of Rich Gassman, Stan Grace, Randy Parpart (aka Putter) and Doc Ski. As many of you are aware the proceeds of this charity go to purchase materials needed to conduct rodbuilding classes with kids. This project has been going several years and

I think Ralph is going to give this on a shot in the future. Again circa pre madeira, back in the old C/D with E days. Not bad for such HUGE thread. 80x92 and 5 layers.

And Mike you are right, I am starting to learn at least a little. Lets call this the Swordfish Wheel of Fortune. ps the fish is my sons FIRST billfish. I wanted to make him swim home.

137. Crosswrap wheel
Her you go guys. These were all made from the late 60s and early 70s and all came from just experimenting with different set ups. I hope to get back into doing some of these just for fun and because with the new threads and colors available it will be tons of fun. Gotta try to prove I belong in the NERBS. Dedicated to Mike, Putter and Al. As you can see the "LIFER" theme ha

139. Bluegill and Crappie
Here are some wraps that Mark wanted to see. Very old stuff here too but still fun stuff. The crappie on the left is only one layer of thread and lots of spots. Yours will be next Jim R. Have to wait til the other goes off the page. Leave others plenty of room.

140. Roosterfish.
Here is one for Randy as requested. It is one of my oldest designs, so old I cant actually put a date to it. Probably within the first year of changing to color change weaving. It is huge.89x171 and 4 layers. On a side note these puppies gotta be one of the most frustrating fish to hook. Thanks Randy for the request.

One of the most frequent emails I get is asking questions about the effect of thread sizes. This is my new tuna design updated from my first weave pattern. It is now 7 layers instead of 2. From top to bottom: A pattern with A is 19 mm, next is A with B 22mm, then is A with D at 27mm and finally D with E at 36mm. Please forgive the gaps but I was more interested in getting the sizes than super

Not an overly elaborat weave but a good example of the differences between Thread sizes and the final outcome. The top example is done with A pattern and B main thread and is 25mm long. The lower example is with D pattern and E main thread and is 36 mm long. I leave the rest of the differences for everyone else to decern.

149. Tuna on a Kite
This weave is one I will submit for my annual contribution to the Chuck Byron Memorial Tournament to benefit the Rollo Fondation for young artists. Last year was a feeding tuna with a dime for size. This is another weave taken form one of Chucks paintings. 104x154 threads. 9 Layers and 16 colors and 555 threads just on the main pattern. The Chuck Byron signature is on the back. The test run

150. Purple Heart Weave
First off this is the final picture to go with the tutorial I just did.
Secondly. The original pattern was prepared by sewerrat on PC stitch. It took me 3 modifications and ended up with 5 layers and 80 threads by 110 but came out pretty good.
