62. Re: 2 piece Rods
I have converted most all my personal rods to 2 pc because they store better in my boat. Todays 2 pc blanks are as good as any 1 pc in my opinion.

No company will survive with poor customer service. The customer service is lacking at NFC and i think those of us who have remained loyal to them have a right to judge them on this. When i order from them i do so knowing it's a crap shoot on when i will get them. They have such an excellent product that for me i will overlook some things. If you are trying to expand in the market CS has to b

Mudhole has excellent CS you could call them and ask. They messed up if it's not the blank you ordered but you also have some responsibility to check your purchase. I would keep it and sell it later since i didn't verify what i bought. Someone will have a use for it and even the current customer might be fine with it especially if you discount it a bit for him.

Piccolastic Hydrocarbon D125 is hands down the best iv'e ever used. I got some from St Croix years ago but i'm sure there are other sources for it now. No muss, no fuss easy to do and use. Load up yur tube with the granules, use forceps for a heat sink. heat with alcohol lamp and place on blank. The whole process takes all of a minute and it will not melt in the sun but is easy to remove if t

Anyone know of a source for gold colored frame fly guides in size 8, 7, 6, or 5 with a dark or grey insert?

The flame from 70 per cent alcohol heats up just as well on thread and skin. You can do a test at home by lighting 70 per cent and 100 per cent then place your finger in the flame of each one to test the temp difference. I'm being facetious please do not try that. The higher per cent alcohols do put off less soot residue.

I got mine through a fellow rod building friend here in Kansas. I no longer use it for my builds but I have some short pieces that will work for you. I saw your email to me and was trying to get hold of my fellow builder to get you the place, he gets it in 20 foot rolls in different colors. I will respond with that info before the end of Sunday. You can email me your address and i will send y

Everything we purchase in our lives has a descriptive wording. I am at a loss to understand your dislike of descriptive words, it must drive you nuts when you go groce

Phil, i think you can answer the sensitivity question yourself. Take two identical blanks and build one out of the heaviest components you can find then build the other with the lightest components you can find. Put light braid on one and heavy mono on the other one. If you can't tell the difference you are dead. Sensitivity by itself is hard to explain but by building the lightest rod you ca

One last suggestion William. Since you are a rodbulder i would suggest you look at an off the shelf HMG fenwick 2 to 8 pound test completed rod. I bought 3 of them and i think they would be exactly what you're looking for as far as blanks. The guides are junk IMO and i didn't like the handles so i stripped them down and rebuilt them to my standards and they are really nice rods now. I believ

William, i think you will be disappointed in casting distance with either blank if you are using 1/32 and 1/80 true weights. If you are using a ball or pencil type strike indicator you might get the distance you want. I use no less than 1/16 oz feather jigs or 1/16 oz ball head jigs with small plastic baits giving me a little more weight for casting. My opinion is neither blank will excel with

Last week i finished building the MHX 721 and the Batson revuls62. Both my builds are two pc rods. The MHX is a tad faster but the Batson has a tad more power, both are built with the Tennessee handle and i used Pac bay Model M guides. I use these for casting 1/16 oz lures for crappie up to two pounds. I prefer the Batson as it has a little more power, I bought more of these blanks both MH

Sounds like you just described every item available to us in a free market. There will always be those who can afford things others may not be able too. You can spend thousands on a large glass boat or a couple thousand on a small aluminum boat, both do the same thing one is just a little nicer, i suspect guides are no different to a certain degree. While i may not use a 30 dollar guide on rod

My personal opinion is that you will find the syringe method best. When weighing you are adding possibilities of something going wrong. I'm betting no two bottles will remain the exact same weight each time you order. I guess you could check that theory by weighing several different bottles. Might be that a slight difference in measuring vs weighing makes no difference in consistency but i wo

Where do you get your custom cork from, how is it more custom than any other cork handle built from cork? Which custom guides do you get and where can one find custom thread? How many custom rods does one have to turn out before they are mass produced?

No science to back it up but i find when using very small diameter braid line i get virtually no wrapping around the rod tip. I have gone to using them on all my personal crappierod builds.
