The KR Concept is what I always go to on my spinning rods. I love it. No more funny looking spinning rods that don't cast!

I would follow the FUJI KR spacing. It's a quick choke and I was had clients rave about how well the rod casts with the recommendations from FUJI.

I would order the 4.5. I just finished a rod that the tip top was spec'd out at 4.0; but, the blank was closer to a 4.5. The 4.5 will still work on a 4.0 tip. IMHO

Brennen, I just finished building an Eternity ETES610MXF Drop-Shot blanks for a client and in MHO you can not buy a better DS blank at any price. And the Eternity blanks are made in the USA!! Contact Carol at Upmost Enterprises and she'll have one on the way that day or the next at the latest. Upmost is just around the corner from Batson Enterprises and if she doesn't have what you want. it

Seth, You can not go wrong with Mudhole's Mag Taper MB843-MBX. It's my "go to" worm rod, and it is very reasonable priced.

Chris, Several years ago I built myself a flipping stick on a St. Croix SC IV blank. I see from the St. Croix web page that Rodgeeks are now building the former St. Croix blanks. I really like the SC IV flipping stick I built and, as I recall, it matches the specification you indicated in your post. Check out the Rodgeeks Carbon 4 model # C47HMF: Length; 7'11", Power; Heavy, Action:

Check out the Point Blank rods available through Anglers Resource. I have built a number of them and I have been very impressed with them. A great tip with plenty of back bone.

Wrap over the decal with D Size Thread or any package cord, then apply a coat of CP and you won't have a problem with the edges lifting up.

Tim, I have built probably 10 spiral wraps for bass and I personally think it is "overkill" for bass rods. The MH MB843 is an excellent blank and I fish mine the majority of time. I use it for worms, Senkos, small jigs and creature baits and find it in my hand most all of the time. I would follow the recommended guide spacing provided my Mudhole and static load the rod to adjust the

Way back when... I purchased a couple of candle warmers at Wally World. I found the Microwave to be much faster to use. The candle warmers are sitting on the self and need a new home....any takers?

Samuel, Don't wait for your kids to graduate high school before building them a rod. I built my grand kids all rods and one was only five years old. A light panfish rod and he love it. Start them young and they will always have fishing to enjoy, regardless how old they are and they will remember Dad taught me this!

Adrian, You found the right place to learn all you possible can about rod building! There are no "stupid questions", so don't be afraid to ask. We all started somewhere. I was fortunate enough to have a close friend, (now in the great fishing waters of the sky), teach me how to build rods. I am still learning new tricks, (thanks to this web site), after 30+ years!

Anthony, I used to fight the same problem, then I went back to the Library, (click link above), and re-read the article entitled "Improving your Epoxy Finish" and it solved ALL of the problems with lumpy epoxy over the decals. The come out like glass and I was simple amazed! As for edges on each side of the wraps, just rotate the rod and support your hand with a block of wood so you

I would highly recommend the Rainshadow Immortal S610MXF. That has been my go to blank for Drop-Shotting. While I live in So. Cal., we deal with the same situation as you described ....turning 5+ lb bass before they get into the weeds. The Rainshadow IMMS610MXF has a great tip and plenty of back bone to turn the fish. I fish 10 lb braid with a 8 lb top shot and have not had difficulties turning f

Paul, This is, without question, the best rod building website on the internet and Welcome to you. I started out pretty much the same way. At first I used wooden "V" Block, which I made, while I wrapped rods. Then I built myself a power wrapper with a sewing machine motor, ('bought a Singer Sewing machine at a second hand store for $25). I purchase Pac Bay chuck for $90 - $100, as

Michael, When I apply a decal that might be a little older, I will wrap over the decal with some package cord, or thicker string, to make sure the edges of the decal are down on the rod blank. Then, as a must, I apply two coats of color preserver over the decal and let it dry before applying an epoxy. This method has never failed for me. I used to worry when apply decals...not now!

Bruce, I live in So. Cal where it gets plenty hot in the summer. I have been using epoxy to install tip tops for over 10 years. I used to use the hot melt glue for tip tops, but found the tip tops would rotate after sitting in the hot sun on the deck of a boat. I have had to replace numerous tip tops after my client reeled their bullet weight up too far and knocked the ring out of the tip
