How many coats of color preserver? I use a minimum of 2 sometimes 3, with plenty of dry time. Don't feel bad I think all of use here have been trough it one time or other. About all you can do now is strip it off and redo, Ya know the old saying practice makes perfect, Tight lines Jaa

Miles, I feel I get Alot more performance and catch more fish on my lighter rods with the lighter lines I listed above. Light rod- small reel = light line and you have a nice Balanced outfit, Great choice on the Minima guides by the way, light strong and cheap , That's why I build my own rods vs buying them, to keep them light and as sensitive as I can. It's a personal choice that's all. I use

I agree with John and Dennis, Creatix Auto Air paints, VERY user friendly, Available in small bottles, Not overly expensive at all, Great web support out there and a good website My son uses it on 1/5 gas RC truck bodies that are lexan plastic, After painting and heat setting it will not come off. And the colors are truly unbelievable !

I supplement my heating with a woodstove, I'll tell ya I get some real nice maple burl and some other hardwoods with some Crazy growth patterns mixed in my loads. None are very big pcs but I always set them aside for lathe projects. I need to rig a vacuum chamber up to my pump so I can stabilize them. Jaa

On the blank you are not not 100% confident on, {Cut a long piece of good blank off the trashed blank} and trial fit it inside your good uncertain blank through the butt end of the rod. Cut as needed to try and get the tapers to match as best as you can , Then epoxy it inside through the bottom of your good blank internally , Make sure it covers the area above the heat damaged at least 3"-

I went down that road when I started. And as Phil said, Use regular nylon and the CP of your choice, there is a very apparent difference! And there is! You can even see the twist in your thread in clear detail. Jaa

As bill said Not enough information, Take your worm bait, with hook, trailer,? etc, And weigh them somewhere if you don't have a scale. Or buy a cheap digital gram scale, 28 gram per ounce. What line # are you using? mono-or braid? You will be asked this when you call. And keep in mind that rod blanks don't know what there made for. Meaning a casting blank can build into a fine spinning rod, And

I'm not really into EVA grips but I question Epoxy as an adhesive for EVA? Hard setting glue on softer foam grip? Versus a rubber type adhesive such as Welders glue for a more flexible bond? This is not statement, It's a learning question for me, As I'm sure I will run into someone who wants an EVA grip in the future. Thanks, Jay

I use 2 thin coats, I build fresh water rods and really watch how thick my epoxy is as I don't want to compromise the blank action with alot of epoxy weight especially the front half. It makes me cringe when I see a high quality blank with epoxy footballs on the guide wraps. Tight Lines!! Jaa

How much do they weigh? Post #7 has the weight's without hook Looks like most including Gary Yamamoto the master of sinko's use a {Yamamoto 21-SPT-3 titanium Medium rod that specs out to Med action Lure 1/8 - 3/8, Line 6 - 12 This should give you a little more to work with along with your client. I have yet to find a paint pen that I have been happy with, They leave globs are to fussy or just stop working. I have been using Createx auto air paint reduced down with water and these Nibs they work good ! It took me awhile to find some that write a Super fine line, You just have to have a steady hand. Some use Testors paints but I like the water base Createx paints they clean up well with wi

Here's some gold on clear If your putting the lable under epoxy why worry about the {unique lamination, which makes the labels heat, cold, water, chemical and fade resistant} We put thread and feathers under it without worry? I'm looking at the Epson 4 line unit but with the clear tape you can only do white or silver, no gold that I can find. I just don't build enought to need a high end lab
