Hardware store. Look for faucet washers. Delete the fore grip and slide the washer into the reel seat.

If you know how to run the CCS system it will give you the information needed to match your blank as close as possible. If not....... Search common cents here.

Wear, check Janns Netcraft. The 31" microlite is a standard around my shop and is always in my shanty.

Well done Joe.
We all make mistakes. The key is owning them and moving forward.

If you haven't already, remember you will be adding weight in the form of backer and fly line as well. I would do that first and fish it for a few days before I commit to adding more weight.

I hole hop a lot and use bright yellow ice line except for the last 12" which is floro. If it gets a loop or loses one, or moves in any way at all.....fish on. But, I have a pretty soft tip on my rod blanks too. If they are hitting aggressively they will bend it right over most of the time. Watch your electronics, when the line below the jig turns green and gets close, watch out.

Wrap it in Sparty Green and white. It won't match but it will be SO much better. Sorry, couldn't resist.

Does anyone know if these are still available? I need a set for a fly rod re-build.

Go to the Michigan Rod Builders Facebook page and ask there. His name sounds familiar but I can't place it. Someone there might be able to.

Good luck. If you find some let me know. I've been looking as well.

You can build them as any type of rod you please. I'd figure out what they feel like to me and build then accordingly.

A fly reel will cast just fine through spin guides. Look at the back issues of Rodmaker. There was an article several years ago about building a rod for spinning/fly fishing. It would have some good information for you. I'm sure someone will weigh in with the exact issue.

I worked at a big box outdoor store for a while. Their name brand rods were just that. Cork colored EVA foam with a thin veneer of cork tape on top.

John, as I read back through the comments I want to make clear I meant no offense. I saw your rod at the MRB gathering and I know the time invested in not just the handle but the rod in its entirety.
Your suggestions for birch bark are spot on. I have made numerous handles out of birch as well and I know the struggle.

That was my understanding as well.
Not to take anything from John's rod. It is truly beautiful.

With all due respect, if you turn your own handles or ever want to turn them, then the CD is worth the money just for the patterns alone. 101 pages or 199 pages, the information is still the same.

Yes. The same guy broke one twice within the first month because he kept playing with them. The last time I threatened to wrap his entire rod in double foot stainless #10's. That cured the problem.

Someone please help me give credit where it's due. I believe this was called a high heel wrap. Its on a rod I did years ago but I can't remember who did it first. This is covered in permagloss John. It has stood up to a lot of abuse through the years and is still going.

The Camo is most likely hydrodipped before the guides are put on. By carefully removing them you should be able to save it.
The CCS numbers apply to all rod blanks regardless oF use so yes you could use them for a new blank if necessary.

Use Permagloss and you don't even need thread. Just open a window.

1. Put the rod parallel to the ground and high enough to allow you to bend it as necessary.
2. Free hang it off the tip top and add weight as you go to flexc the blank further and further.

Not intentionally, but my cat has attempted to inlay itself into fresh finish before. Thus the reason my dryer is mounted on the ceiling of my shop. Lol

Three. Luckily I got mine put out before it did any serious damage to anything except my ego. I no longer use it obviously. I mix carefully and use a lighter only when necessary.
