Jeff I was looking at Steve Cox's picture of the 3.5 guide and it looks like there is only 7-8 wraps from the inlay. If that is the case then he must be using a modified Forhan wrap on these guides. When I do a forhan I end up using 7 wraps on a #6 guide. I would think that the serations on the guide foot would assist in holding the thread. Do these guides need prep before using or are th

If we use the epoxy as a mini ramp and leave the guides as is (batson) would there be a requirement to use the forhan wrap? This in turn would also reduce weight would it not?

Chuck If you bend the guides then doesn't that weaken the guide itself due to stress on the metal? George When casting I would think that the rod would be near straight so the guide angle would make a difference.

I am wondering after looking at Steve Cox's pictures of the Batson guides if the severe forward angle of these guides has any effect. I would think by them being bent at aprox 45 degrees that the effective ring size is even less then the 3 mm. They seem to be heavier then the Fuji SIC guides and when I compare them to the picture that Billy V sent in it looks like the Fuji guides are at an angle

Emory Due to the Bad vibrations that have been recieved from your posts it seems that they have a direct relationship to the damping of the spirit of the board. Since you have not tried the micro system you really have no basis to argue from , do you ??

Brandon I am from Canada, but that shouldn't matter. I wanted to know why he wanted to use US parts when the off shore stuff such as Fugi sets the bench mark. Was it from a performance point of veiw? Cost? Scott Batson and Pacific bay both use off shore components. As does St Croix on their finished rods Rena Please check out buckys web site www.allenrods.com Loyality to a country

I realize that these are answers that you may not wish to post on a public foroum so you can email mae. Thank you

I was wondering how many of you sponsor an angler in the Bass circuit? What type of response had you got from this? Did it increase your sales or exposure? Did you or do you find it worthwhile?? What do you give in exchange for what does the angler do for you? Shirts and hats plus a cut on rods for ??

I use the blanks from Mudhole on all my Ice rods for the Bay of Quinte. Trim them to the power you want and they hold up well in the cold.

Why would you want to use a forhan locking wrap on a double foot guide? I have never heard of anyone using it for that style of guides.

I only wish gas prices were $4 a gallon. Here in Canada we are paying close to $5.30 a US gallon. and climbing daily. If you find just shipping costs high add in the cost of brokerage fees and customs to get any stuff from the states.

I think he is asking about the St Croix Legends, split grip with the small butt cap and EVA end. These are not available as far as I can see as the handle kits are for a solid cork rear end. I may be wrong as I have in the past

I had a Quantum come into the shop with One guide on top and all the rest on the bottom of the rod but no bumper guide. Installed a bumper and everyone was happy. The owner and I could not believe that was the way Quantum would build a rod.

Would it not just make more sense to have a database of the reels and the Diameter of teh various spools as you really dont need the reel to set up the rod do you. Jeff I guess Billy was trying to say is no one is that trusting to send a 1200 dollar reel to someone so they can set up a rod. I know I wont thats for certain.

So if you can St Croix at wholesale then think how much better a deal you get with Rainshadow at wholesale prices. So the St Croix are made in the States what are you going to use to build the rest of the rod? Since I dont think there are any guides made in the states or reel seats or cork

I have had a request for 2 rods. A7 Wt 9 ft fly rod and a 6' 6" inch MH spinning rod both these rods are to come in pieces less then 20" so that they can be carried easly on a float plane After searching most dealers and companies I can not find the blanks to build these rods. There was at one point a 6or 7 piece fly blank out there . Any suggestions??

This is the same question you asked about Shikarii in May, then G-USA in July. You might want to take those answers and look at the CTS listings and find your own blanks. We all have to do a little looking and thinking in this hobby. What is great for one person may not be for the next.

8 guides times 2 feet times two wraps per foot equals 32 . Billy did say it was a double wrap.
