I have typed four different replies already and still I am stymied. Art, performance, function, too much to think about even trying to narrow it down for a contest for me. Just as Andy stated I look at some posted pictures and wonder why it had so much interest and there are the others. I'm staying neutral on this one, that’s my story and I’m stickin to it.

Hi Joe, I guess I should have explained the links above a little further. Just like the patent office if there is a copywrite on the words you would like to have printed on the rod then most likely there will be contact information to the person, business, group, organization, ect... listed with the copywrite. Contacting the entity who has corywritten/trademarked the terms if so might be a littl

This might be of some help Joe. I search the patent office myself from time to time and I see this website has a searchable records area as well. You may want to do a search here as well. Hope these links help!

Mother nature isn't playing along with this one! It's raining outside today but I did put a ziplock plastic bag on the threaded dowel so the rain water will not effect the testing. I figured if the wood got wet it could goof the test.

I hear you Scott ,hope the thumb heals soon, I just recently learned a new repect for my table saw that I seemed to have forgotten somehow. It was all about a narrow cut where the gates locking arm was too close to the blade height adjustment to lower the blade, too many hours burnt at both ends of the candle and whole lot of stupidity. Yes instead of unlocking the gate, moving it aside and rese

Hi All, A few days ago I posted asking about Salus thread now also known as Ameth thread. Well the coatings just went on a few minutes ago with no problems what so ever. I have set up a couple little dowel rods with the same colors of thread on each dowel useing no color preserver for a sunlight test to see how the color holds. Depending on mother nature and how much sunlight I get for the nex

Thanks Scott, I still have yet to test this Salus thread. I've been getting the file cabinet business ready and today it's the first monthly business filing for me here in Idaho. Too many priorties these days but I may have a window for testing this next week. I do have my figures crossed this Salus flies as I have a birthday gift to build with some thread and handle stuff I have never done befo

Thanks guys, I have already sent the email off to Mom to see if she may remember if the samples she sent were the rayons or polys. She spooled these on bobbins from larger spools she bought so this is the actual product and not the samplers sent by the manufacturer. In the seven or eight years I have been building fishing rods I have never really veried from the Gudbrod line for the most part

Thanks Guys, Mom has sent me some samples and I have taken a strong magnifying glass to them and the pallets that came from the manufacturer. With both the rayon and the poly I can see no fuzzies at all, colors are vibrant and from what the manufacturer states the poly will stand up to industrial cleaning and direct sunlight if used on stuff like company uniforms. Referring to the samples Mom se

Hi Folks, My Mom has gotten into embrodery in a big way I mean the full on digital machine and all. She has shopped around for threads and has come up with a company called Salus. She had a couple of the color chart gigs sent to me and this thread looks very nice. Between the Rayons and the Ameth Polyesters there is just about every color in the rainbow. My questions would be, Has anyone used

I have used tape as well in the past and then brushed the wraps with a flame lightly to get those little stick ups that are hard to see. I use an optivisor now that really helps with that little tiny stuff and my aging eyes. A lot of the time I will wrap my work that I will finish later with plastic wrap to avoid the dust and nasty stuff goofing me up.

Guys, I am pretty sure that the Fire Line has a waxy stuff on it that can really mess with your coatings. It may be best to stick with something like the Spider Wire that doesn't feel waxy and from what I have noticed the 8-40 is not as smooth a braid as some of your smaller diameters.

I hear you Tom, My greater customer base doesn't even own computers. Then again a couple ads on the tube placed at the right time and places and I wouldn't be able to contend with demand.

Thanks Mark, The change of hands took place this last year and if I was told it was going to happen I must have been in denile because I don't remember anyone telling me. Kencor is now in Santa Fe and I still have to make contact with the new owners.

Hello, It is very strange to me for a company like Kencor to kind of drop off the face of the earth but I have lost all contact with Kenny Kawakami at Kencor. Does anyone know what is going on?

Thanks Hank, They make eight different models and I think I read that they are all two piece but the seven foot models may be one. I'm pretty sure I have Berkely whooped other then price. Three AAA batteries and only 36 hours light with the Glow Rods, I get an easy 48 out of two AAA batteries besides being lighter because of the one less battery. I would guess the battery life stated for the Ber

Patrick, I've been building the laser fishing rods that illuminate at night for about seven years now. In the beginning they were flashlights modified to fit the end of fishing rods but they have come a long ways and I have developed many different models now. I wouldn't say they are full on production as of yet but the efforts are in place to stream line my production as to be able to produce

Thanks Bill, I really appreciate you passing the word on to me about my moment in the dark. ;) I really doubt it will be this next year but if things go well I may just have a tented booth for 2008 with a whole line of my blanks for builders to see. Thanks again Bill!

Through my brief scan of this post I don't think I noticed an mention of the coating of the threads that is sometimes sent out by the outwrappers. I have seen one of the fastest and outwarppers are amazing! I honestly almost got sick to my stomach after hand wrapping with no braces for years.

Hi Jeff, Being you have stated the 65 degrees, the mixing temp could very well be an issue. From my experience you really want to make sure the mixing temps are a bit higher then the 64 ambient temperature I think that is stated on the package. If the mix looked a little grain or maybe sandy and not creamy smooth like, I would be sure to wait the 24 hours.

Robert, Here is a link to the motor I just bought and am in the process of building a 8 position coater drier with. Plenty of torque and I have tested it with a pretty good load for a long time. If a guy was crafty enough he may just be able to figure out how to use the fan shaft as a mixer but the rpms are pretty high on that one.

I am not sure how that would work with the settings on the reels. Some reels do have a preset like the Avet I have planned soon but with waring drag discs and such it would make that a pretty tough engineering feet. Personally I always use a digital scale when I set my drags. With the Avet I ahve planned I am going to have to make sure I get it set because the rod it's going to be for could be

Thank you gentlemen I seem to feel the sanity flowing once again, I sure can see the star drag issue causing breakage. Okay I am guilty of the fifty pound line on the fifteen pound rated rod but it was only for testing the blanks the fun way. Yep, surf casting three ounces on that little six-foot rod for all I had. Sure made me look like a screwball out there and the shark I hooked into had me

Hi Everybody, I really hate to sound ignorant and hope this question doesn’t have me looking that way. For the years I have been fishing and building fishing rods I think that I am the only person I know of that has put the drag setting on the labels of a fishing rods. I do include the line rating and lure weight but I just wonder why this is not done more often. So many stories I have heard o

Hi All, I order a couple 8oz. kits of the Gudebrod regular build this last summer and just got into the packaging last night. One of the wrappers that keeps the two bottles together was not completely wraping the two bottles and the two kits were wrapped together with plastic wrap so I never really noticed until I took the plastic wrap off. In a hast I whipped up 12 ml total 6 resin and 6 hard
