61. Heya Tom?
I'm not in business anymore, the patent has turn a love of the art into something I can no longer stomache, I'm selling off the patent. Is there a reason I can't post the stuff in my shop in the for sale section?

Jan,
Although I don't know the names of all of the glow powerders out there these days Strontium Nitrate is a pretty good one. Apply a titanium white background/thread or as close as you can get and then mix the glow powder with your finish. It has a very fine grain but another coating could be needed over the first just for protection of the powder that may stay on nthe surface. I've had a lot

Thanks Bill!
Picture this year even, too freakin cool!
I hope to be able to make it next year with the whole line of product I make but there will be some very high over head involved to do so. I have to have a tent set up kind of deal to shade a little light from the rods and a few other things are planned as well eventually.
Thanks again and thank you too Darth!

I'm sure I would Bill!
Alright! Congradulations Mike! I do get a bunch of the Star Wars stuff coming my way about the rods but I've never seen any of them fishing in the movies. ;)
I'll keep my open for the email Mike.

69. Thank you Tom!
It sounds as though the lights went out at the show again Tom. Thank you for making the extra effort with my product it means a lot to me, and who ever manned the light switches too!
It may be that I might just be able to make the show in person this next year, in what fashion I'm not sure I can say at this time but I sure would like to.
Thanks again Tom,
Wylie

Thanks for the kind words Ken.
I'm kind of curious as to if anyone may have caught the name of the person who got the door prize I sent out there, I did add a card with the blank but have heard nothing as of yet. It's just nice to hear the stories from the people who fish my products.

That lighted rod blank would have been from me, I'm Wylie at Wylie Rods.
I have had product at the last couple shows and will try to at least have a rod blank at the shows in the future as a door prize, that is if I am not able to do more.
I would guess that the rod blank would have been moving is the reason the light was flashing, that blank was set up to be very sensitive.

This has worked in the past here so I'm giving it a another try. A customer has asked me to build some rods for some Abu 7000iCS reels he has and I don't know these reels.
If you wouldn't mind, how wide is the line guide track? Also how high off the reel seat or reels foot does the line feed onto the spool?
I really wish I could make High Point this year but I'll be there in spirit anyways!

Hi Ken,
I don't know how far it will go but a gentelman named Eric Stromland has contacted me again (last time was 2002) and has mentioned introducing Killwell to my product. I still have to get a rod to him to take with him which I should be on pretty soon. I have had a family member visiting and this has set me back on production a ways.
Other then that I'm still plugging away at them one a

Harold,
The best results I have had are with the appliance epoxy paints in the spray cans. Not many colors to choose from! I rig a motor and chuck with an eyelet in the center of the chuck and a skateboard bearing in a block of wood with a 5/16" bolt center drilled as well as a hole through the side entering the center drilled hole. The block of wood is anchored slightly over the distance o

I wrapped fishing rods for a long time with no stands or supports holding the blanks and when I walked into Kencor and seen a woman triple wrapping double foot guides and doing the whole rod in the time it took me to tape a guide on I felt sick to my stomach, literally. If you haven't seen an out wrapper or factory wrapper wrapping, I suggest it.

Bill that's really cool of you! I mean turning out the lights and the offer of the thread. I got my hands on the Trimar I was looking for and the gold I have plans for these rods is the 9004 HT just a little darker in color then the 9000. The black nylon is way out of production now but I'm shooting for the E size to make life a lot easier with the last of the wraps on these surf rods.
Thanks a

Here we go,
I have been trying to find Trimar gold and black thread, E sized black nylon and as well the Ole Gold 9004 in a D and have been crapping out big time. Anybody have any ideas as to who carries these still?
I have 80 large diameter single wrap trim bands to do with the Trimar for guides and handles and 40 double wrap bands to do with the Ole Gold 9004 of large diameter too.
I think I

Can't find one Mike but I am sure you'll sell me one, right!
Thanks Tom,
He did mention the 8500 has 30lbs. mono and the 9500 he runs 10/50 Fire Line braid on. I've just remebered, I have a friend that runs a reel compareable to these and may just have to use it for mock up. Looks like I'm buying the 50s and just working things out. I've thought of trying to sell the man on conventional reel

Hi folks,
A customer of mine would like a couple surf rods built for the old 8500ss and 9500ss Penn spinning reels and I have been unable to find a spool diameter, spool distance from seat and spool angle anywhere on the net so far?
I'm sure you all know the issue here, go 50mm or 40mm, add the weight, don't add the weight, closer to the reel seat or can I stretch it a little....

Thanks Paul,
My customer has made the payment by way of Western Union which makes for a fast transfer of funds and may be another option for you or maybe not.
I do know I am not even going to try UPS for this one!
Thanks Paul,

Thanks Ron,
Sometimes I do use PayPal for buttons on my web site and such but the percentage I just try and stay away from that they collect for the service. The only reason I will not use PayPal for this is that I didn't add the percentage in for my customer. In the futture I may use the option for billing and add the percentage.
Thank you,
Wylie

Simon,
That was a very informative post and I have to thank you and then once again for my customer. So they call it down under the government? Sorry just joking but it seems pretty spendy for a guy to get a coulpe surf rods into Australia after all the taxing stuff. No doubt this is going to be researched well before the rods are shipped.
DON'T MAKE ME DO IT BILL! I might need a loan first t

Thanks for the heads up guys!
I guess I better shop this around a little before I do ship the rods and just make a check out for the difference in expense. A little customer P.R. work in the shipment I guess. :)
The Brown Bombers want just over $217 for the shipment insured and all of course. Personally I have had loses to all the shipping companies and just cross my fingers, throw a little sa

Thanks for the reply Karry,
I have told my customer that this will be my first shipment outside the United States. Which it is, so I guess I have one out in that at least if he does get hit hard with taxes and such. It may not be a big deal to my customer as the rods being shipped came to a substantial amount and this was indicated to my customer before I sent the qoute. He's just worried about

Oh boy I might have done it this time!
I have just put a quote on a couple rods for an Assie and when I was calculating shipping a message came up that really brought question to mind. Below is the paragraph that is in question.
