Ues the rubber bands that they put on braces ( teeth ), the ultra small ones. Slide them over the foot of the guides to hold them in place. After wrapping half way up the guide foot just cut the rubber band off.

Who on here is from Southern Oregon? I'm thinking of starting up some classes if I get enough interest. These are free classes..just bring your desire to be the best you can be.

Thanks Mike. Thought up some new patterns last night and as far as I can tell by looking in the books...it hasn't been done before. Think of a cord handle with certain parts of different cross wraps mixed in. If it turns out like I think it will, all i can say is WOW!!! If my cord shows up tomorrow, I should be done with it on Sunday. I'll post pics when I'm finished. And yes......I'l

Thanks again to all that bought the dvd's and for the support at the show. This was definately a learning experience. I really didn't think it was going to be that hard. We have had a lot of positive feedback from people who have watched them. And again as Bob said, feel free to contact either of us if you have any questions. And yes, as Bob mentioned we are talking about doing second edit

I'm from Oregon too. There is no problem taking a 3 or 4 weight fly blank and making it a spinner. It's just a different handle. I do it all the time. And when i finally recoop from the show I have to build the same thing for a friends girlfriend.

WOW!!!! What a show. I would like to thank everyone for all the support at our booth this year and to those that attended the two seminars. The seminars went over better than expected (i was scared to death on the first one) and maybe next year Tom could give me some additional time on the cross wrap one. Special thanks to all my friends that were there and of course to Wayne Folwkes who bro

Richard, These types of wraps aren't impossible, justs take a little more effort than most other wraps. I've done quite a few closed wraps with metallics and there are just a few tricks to making them work. Start laying your threads down as tight as possible. I usually go 4-6 passes before packing. Now here's the trick. After you get your 4-6 passes done, wrap all area's that you are going

Use Classic Coat Acrylic CP. I'm the worlds worst about contaminets, washing hands, dirt, whatever. I use two heavy coats and I never have any problems.

Tom, I think what Sandra may be refering to is the type of cord handles I've been doing over the last few years. Sandra, I've posted some handles in grip section, this may be what you're after. I have a tutorial in my computer but have no clue how to post it here. If someone would be willing to explain how i would gladly post it up.

Carpet tape. You can get it about anywhere.

Tape the guide on in place. Wrap the handle side of the guide first. When you start to wrap the tie off side, start a 1/4 from the guide foot and wrap over the guide foot. Cut off the rest of the threads from the buttwrap as the are now tied off from wrapping over the guide foot. Now match the length of the the wrap on the downhill side of the guide.....done deal.

Allen Not sure where you live, but I'll be giving a Seminar on Crosswrap layout at the West Coast Custom Rod Show this coming Sat. If you can make it, sit your butt in the front row and I'll teach you how to do this. It's rather simple. I think i'm batting about 1000 so far. Steve www.roostercustomrods.com
