WRAPPING A BURGUNDY/GARNET ROD

I recently purchased a Lami 9'4wt XMG blank. The blank is garnet (burgundy) in color. What colors would work best with this blank? I plan on using Snake Brand snakes, tip top, and a Select Series Agate guide as a stripper (color yet to be determined but probably Type 4).

Appreciate any ideas...

Thanks

Ron

I wrapped a 9'0 6wt and was pretty happy with the color scheme. Ended up with an earthy yellow wrap with navy blue trims. I'm pretty sure it was gudebrod thread: Goldenrod (0209) and Dark Blue (0246).

When in doubt I tend to resort to the color wheel and pick tertiary colors based on the blank color. In this case a little paler yellow would have been nice, but I wasn't willing to undertake that potential headache. The goldenrod matched up better with the blank lettering anyhow.

Can't beat garnet and metalic gold, with or without CP.

Garnet without CP on an esprit blank will blend right in with it(I just got done finishing an ESH1142L yesterday). I was going to use candy apple, but figured it'd be too bright. I kind of like a little contrast on my wraps, but I think I like how it turned out.

Have to admit, Garnet ROCKS on burgandy rods and blends in nicely.

If you're looking for something to stand out, I've used dark copper metallic Sulky with silver trim also....very nice!

Gudebrod red/black classic twist (with CP) and 2 narrow trim bands - one black and one silver metallic.

That was the original plan, but I chickened out and went with the more conservative garnet! I bet that red/black variegated thread would look very sharp on one of these blanks...
