What is the industrial epoxy you use? Viscosity wise how does it compare to rod bond?

Hope you don't need to return it for warantee. Was told by them once that their lable needs to be on it to validate warantee.

stop your rod rotating with the guides up and let the finish sag to the bottom of the blank and wick off all the drops that form.

What you put inside the shipping container is great, but how you restrain it inside the shipping container is important too like I said before when the shipping container is thrown like a harpoon as I found out when receiving some blanks with the tips sheared off after they had penetrated the soft plastic cap on the shipping tube. Finally you need to protect when the shipping tube has to navigate

I agree with Bill. Made a spiral wrap rod with All American Roller guides and really came out great. They will also give you Degree info for their roller guides for the transition.

Interesting post. If you have read a lot of the past posts concerning shipping you will have noticed so many worried about how much it cost to ship the rod because of the "container" size and weight. I have asked several times, "how much is it worth to you that the rod you put so much time into and the customer is anxiously waiting for, makes it there undamaged". It is as if t

398. Re: Silk Vs. Nylon
Oh I want to tell you of a little problem I had with color preserver and silk when I was first producing color change weaves. I had just got it down pretty good as far as the weaving was concerned after spending about 25 hours on each weave during the learning process and putting them on all of my old factory rods as well as my fishing partners. I was in a real hurry/bind, because I told my wife

My first try was with Flexcoat that worked at first the best than any others, but I altered it a little by buying a half gallon and what I did was to take some of it and set aside then when the large container seperated, I took the clear separation and used that to thin the first part I poured off. Later I found that the GudeBrod 811 Worked the best. And I thinned it according to their instructi

All my Color Change weaves when I when I first started was silk because of color choices available. However I did not buy it from rod component supplyers because they only had basic rod wrapping colors rather than Mother Nature colors. The one major problem I found it was more tempermental was applying color preserver.

If you have too much epoxy, stop the rotation with the guides on top of the blank and let the finish sag down to the bottom where you can touch your finish applicator to the drops to wick the extra finish away.

Probably didn't have a lable because it wasn't a #1, so why would a manufacturer want to hand out a lable which may commit it to warrantee responsibility?

ask for a skeleton reel seat. Than you need to decide on size based on what size blank it is going and if you want all metal or graphite type.

Go to Custom tackle supply as mentioned earlier. Bob is very knowledgable and he will listen to what you are trying to accomplish and will help you. He and his business are great to deal with.

If you see some of the beautiful work of Terry Hensen, you would be impressed. Go to the photo site about 2 or 3 pages back on the "grips and handles". I believe he uses CA which I have started using on my reel seat inserts I have been making. The final polish can be done to make it satin or gloss

I know some Blank Manufacturers use a particular kind of automotive paint and squege it on to get a very thin coat. The problem is I believe you will have to bake it to cure the paint but you will have to make sure you do go too high that you would damage your blank. The second problem is how small of a container of that paint you will be able buy and its cost. Maybe if you have any contacts in a

409. Re: Turning Squares
I don't understand something. I thought this site was about ideas. When you do the process as described in the article you are doing a fair amount of lath work to turn off the 2"x2" to get down to the core that will be adheared to the form. So why is it that much work to take a fine cut to take off that little seam, IF THERE WAS A SEAM? Why would you put down someone that may have a goo

I seem to remember not too long ago when Spiral Wrapped rods started to get popular and the many testamonials stating that the Spiral Wrapped rod will cast farther than conventional wrapped rods. Not just as far, but farther. This is typical when something new comes out. I think Bill Colby is correct, you need to understand the "new" thing/proceedure and know its limitations.

Besides you won't have the line when under heavy tension moving the temporary attached guides side ways plus it is easier to move them arround when the line isn't under heavy tension or add additional guides. This was suggested 20 to 30 years ago I believe by a young Australian kid to the old Rodcrafters journal.

Here is what I did. I made a wood jig that had a wood base and a box shaped 45 degree riser to stick the butt of the rod in. Now because of the size and layout of my Kitchen I used the toe kick plate or what ever you call that area at the bottom of kitchen cabinets. So on top of the base of the rod holder I cut a piece of wood on a slight taper and fixed it to the base so that it would wedge unde

Thanks Clyde
The only time I have really expeirenced much of a problem with this is when I tried to set up a rod ready to weave on to save the time by laying down the design threads then travel to some place with it like the last Woodland, WA Seminar at Lamiglas. I work arround this one problem, but I don't really have an issue with it tangling when it remains stationary in my Rod room. As far
