I agree, I dont do under wraps on freshwater rods, however, you can always use trim threads to give the look of an under wrap.

Just reminding those folks in central MN and western WI, the February get together will be Feb 7, 2009 from 11am to 3 pm. As usual, refreshments will be served. Last month was fairly productive in that with the networking I agreed to assist Don Pace in a building class. So, make it if you can, just let me know your coming; rodsbyvern@m

We cant think of a great name like NERBS so we are the East Central Minnesota, West Wisconsin rod building group. We had a great meeting and most of all I want to thank Tom for sending along the decals and license plates among other items. They made great door prizes and Im happy to report the plates and decals went first as prizes. Just another sign that the symbol is catching on quickly. THANK

Does anyone have a full set of Comic Sans MS done in a weaving pattern? Highest design thread should be no more than 20. If you are willing to share that woulo be great, if not, I will be glad to pay a reasonable price to obtain one. I would need this fairly quickly as I need it for a Christmas rod. Feel free to contact me direct at rodsbyvern@

I highly recommend a Pac Bay starter kit, has every thing you need in cluding rod coat, epoxy etc. Every thing you need at a good bite for the buck. JMHO>

I have yet to throw away any size tip from any rod I have ever aquired and believe me thats alot. I use them for friends and family and of course, myself. That way I can bring a dozen rods with me in case there is some kid on the ice that doesnt have one and wants to fish. You would be surprised the folks that bring the kids ice fishing but wont let them in the shack for one reason or another. I

No, sorry Russ, I only mentioned photography as that will be the only way to exchange engineering numbers and drafting work.. This project would involve wood, steel (close tolerances), as well as plastic. Now is your still interested, just give me a shout. Im changing phones to Vonage right now so shoot me an email. Thanks for the reply, Russ

I am in need of a mechanical engineer / draftsman to work on a project. We would probably need to work over the inernet, however, I do not have fax so all would have to be in photograph form. Please contact me at: rodsbyvern@mywdo.com I will then forward my phone number. Thanks

Dont know if this has been brought up before but: DO NOT us 3m Scotch any mm PN26994 , Tape,/Cinta/Ruban for the purpose of holding your count threads. The left side is ok because you will be covering it with tape, use a different kinds and do not use it on the right side where you will be touching it constantly to move your threads, it becomes dirty rapidly and picks up the oils from yoiur fi

I would like to see a rehostate that runs in reverse as well as forward, this way if you have to unwind a fair amoung of thread, (stupid mistake) you dont have to try and get the starting point to unwind it, plus it would be faster. Again, another vote for Tom's idea.

I would think a 9 volt battery somehow attatched to the butt of the rod with the wireing running up the rod and wrapping around the base of the guide would work. However, you would still stand the chance of melting the rod coat. Dont know, JMHO.Definetly something to play with and apply for a patent as soon as you get it perfected.

I agree with Donald, I did upgrad to the new chuck but held on to the old plastic one for larger diamerter blanks. I use mine constatnly for every thing. It really helps on speeding up cross wraps a little. I too have used it for a cork grip lathe and it works great. I have a cheap Menards lathe ($99.00) for my wood grips which works just fine over all.. Vern
