I build nothing but fly rods, about 40-50 a year and strongly prefer the Batson line of products! For strippers I use LXN and for running guides, either the Lite or Standard single foot depending upon the line weight of the rod. One of my least favorite chores in rod building, is prepping the feet, and I find the Batson line to be the best, needing the least amount of work!

I prefer Threadmaster Lite. Good pot life and great bubble release!

Tenkara USA rods are not really expensive. Almost all are less than $200.00 complete. Other than cosmetics there is little to create with the rods due to lack of guides and reel seats. One could do some exotic things with the handle, but also due to the telescoping feature, nothing can be added to the sections above the butt.

Have you contacted Tenkara USA to see if they will sell you a blank?

What type of rod? If it is a fly rod, removing the reel seat is not difficult if epoxy was used to adhere it. Boiling the butt in a plastic bag to keep it dry works very well!

2530. Re: Drilling Cork Rings
I like to use a "Brad point bit" as I find it does not wander like a regular drill bit.

You can use epoxy (paste type) to create end plugs. Purpose is to keep foreign material out of blank, not strength. Adding expanding foam will definitively add weight, can't comment on other effects on the blank.
Not clear about your line wt questions.

2533. Re: Batson RX8 2wt
Don't know about the RX8, but the RX6 is definitely a good short line 2wt. I have built many of them and fish one myself in the small Sierra streams

Be careful where you apply them until you have tested their longevity, as they are organic and may rot when encapsulated! Hopefully the finish may inhibit the rotting.

2535. Re: Reamers
I to have severely scratched a blank with grit stuck in the grip from using epoxied grit on a reamer, and I used an air gun to blow out the grip.......................NO MORE!!!
Replacing the grit strips is not that tricky if you follow the contact cement instructions. Having to replace a blank due to my error is costly!
If you turn the reamers with a drill too fast they will heat up and

2538. Re: Reamers
Not rubber cement....contact cement works fine. Don't get it hot! Ream slowly. A rat tail file will work but you must be careful not to jam it if using power,

The A& is pretty "Beefy" looking for a light weight rod. ( 3-5) Pac Bay has lighter non=recessed seats, like the UL5 & DL5

There is more then one way to assemble them. My preference is the following steps. 1.) glue the recessed hood into the grip 2.)glue the insert into the reel seat skeleton 3.) Dry fit the parts on the blank and mark the upper end of the grip on the blank 4.) Glue the grip onto the blank using the reel seat to stop it's slide toward the butt. ( at this point the reel seat is still not glue on th
