3391. Re: Gluing Birch Bark
Thanks Mike!
I like Titebond a lot and would prefer it's ease of use over epoxy, so will go with it. As I understand it, it is best to glue short stacks of the disks, maybe an inch, rather than more in order to be able to compress them properly. This will work fine for me as I plan on also using some exotic cork accents within the grip.

3392. Gluing Birch Bark
I am about to start my first Birch Bark grip project and am wondering, what are the pros and cons of using epoxy or Titebond for gluing the laminated layers of the bark?
I have considerable experience with cork, wood and the exotics, but not the bark and have read on this site a number of references to grip separation after gluing, especially after turning.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

I am looking for a source for the jig for cutting checkerboard cork rings. Custom Tackle no longer stocks one. Can anyone guide me in the right direction, it will be much appreciated!

3394. Re: G. Loomis Xperience
There are also a lot of builders who think Loomis still makes some fine blanks! I have many repeat Loomis customers that fish for Trout, Salmon and Steelhead here in the west with my Loomis rods.

I have run it almost continuosly for eight hours (multiple blanks) and the batteries are still going. Don't know why you would run it all night, usually a max of a couple of hours and finish is well set. I no longer trip over the dang cord!

3397. Re: fore grip
GEE, thanks Bill, I hadn't even considered the IGFA ramifications! I was thinking only about whether the addition of a fore grip to a rod would someway compromize it's strength.

3399. Re: fore grip
I appreciate all the responses and am assuming from them that the blank construction is not the determining factor as to whether or not you can add a fore grip. If anyone reading this knows otherwise, I'd like their response.

Yes, talking about fly rods. I have fished a number of heavy fly rods in Belize and Costa Rica (10-14wts) that have the added fore grip. It was mounted on the blank slightly above the normal grip. I have always avoided putting my hand on the blank above the regular grip when fighting big fish, but the fore grip in the above instances worked and help in fighting. I'm not sure if these blanks were

3401. fore grip
I am new to this site, but have built a dozen or so rods. However I have never added a fore grip to any of them. Now building a 12wt and wonder if there are any issues I should be aware of in adding a fore grip. Added question: Can a fore grip be added to any blank?
