would like to know this too .. i have some 100yd spools of gudebrod from 10-13 years back .. the threads have been kept in a rubbermaid/plano box since i bought them, and out of sunlight.. it's still with me, though i have switched to using the 950yds spool

still trying to figure it out .. but wont the first arbor push the glue downwards? so if there is more then 1 arbor, the space between the 2 wouldnt really have any glue at all?

Bill, you mentioned to glue the arbor in the seat and when dry, ream to fit.. how many arbors do you use, and once u ream to fit, how tight a fit ? i am wondering if the epoxy is able to flow between 2 arbors (assuming if using 2 or more) ..

Roger, pretty much the same here .. the cert and JotP can be found at the same place, and for a minimal cost, we can get married. Matthew, my wedding was about US$20K .. but in our culture, we get cash back from the guest.. I believe Americans would normally have something of a bridal registry where the couple would scan the items they wanted and let guest know that wedding gifts can

Bill, i'm using a 30rpm ac motor.. i timed the number of times my rod rotated in an min.. it was only 8 at best.. think it has something to do with the size of the fly wheel against the pulley for the drying motor.. think my 6 rpm motor fares worse.. but seriously, i like the look of rounded in the middle for small guide feets.. if it was on a CYSG30 guide, then.. that i would rather not h

congrats! i didnt know that weddings cost that much in the States.. i was pretty amazed when my ex colleague in STL told me that a wedding would cost at least 25K .. considering that we hold ours in hotels most of the time, so that pretty much where most of our cost went to , venue and food..

andrew, it may help to elaborate what you meant by "it did not yield the results i wanted".. i use TM regular and have just begun using TM lite.. i find that with the lite, even after 2 coats or probably 3 (though i never tried more than 2), i can still see the thread's surface and the finish is not glossy smooth... i guess it's due to the viscosity of the finish, since it is more w

oh boy .. after looking at the link by Bill, i thnk i may have slight sensitivity to rod finish.. i have a bit of skin peeling near the mouth which i pegged down to food allergy.. but it seems that it may be related to fishing!

2 thumbs up on rod bond and threadmaster! i still use flexcoat epoxy glue for individual cork rings, though i use rod bond for almost everything else (butt caps, reel seats, eva and cork grips)

maybe i'm fishing wrongly, but i always thought that the drag should be set with lines running thru the guides as in how you do the static deflection test, and not directly in line with the measuring device..

kinda forgot about the pivot/fulcrum in the equation .. though length of rod matters, it also matters whereabouts on the rod you are gripping (presumably the foregrip or reel seat).. gripping the foregrip 14 inches from butt is different from gripping the foregrip maybe 24 inches from the butt even if the length of the rod is essentially the same.. the closer you grip to your self, the more l

for a moment, i was thinking the longer rod would have 'more' drag, .. but in the end, i think it's what Tom says .. 8lb is 8lb .. sorta like which is heavier, 1kg of lead and 1 kg of feathers..

unless i have read or understood it wrongly, i came across some posts that said that SIC guides could effectively increase casting distance.. would it then be due to the fact that that the guide insert is keeping the line off the blank, unlike snake guides ?

Phil, i'm intending to build a fly rod using available blanks in my country (non of which are specifically for fly rods).. i'll be using most probably a spinning or casting blank to build.. as i understand from my previous post, i should be looking for a blank rated 1/8 to build a 2 weight fly rod

i still have that bottle... will be using it on a cork grip once i am done shaping.. if it is still usable, i'll continue using it.. if not.. at least i have a fresh bottle around ... dont remember whose motto is this .. but "i rather have and not need it, then need and not have it"

just wondering, i have a bottle of cork seal that has sorta clumped up ...there's liquid in it.. but a major portion of it is clumped (looks like clumps of baby formula) .. i have placed the bottle in hot water and managed to perhaps thin it down a bit and lose about half the clumps .. but when i stick my spatula into the bottle to mix the rest.. it seems the spatula is coated with very thick st

i've settled the issue of fly rod blank in one of my previous post.. now i'm just wondering, can i do up a fly rod with : LSG guides (size 6 & 7) MNSG stripper (8 or 10) DPSD16 reel seat ? i've all of the parts right now .. but never really heard anyone building up a fly rod with DPSD seats.. blank would be a 2pc, 6' tiger eye blank..

i may be wrong, but i think the 27x means that you should locate your choke guide at 27 x diameter of the spool face.. it should give you the same location as how you would set up the NGC ?
