901. Re: Flocking
Anything the adhesive will stick to the flocking will stick to. Including yourself. Ralph O'Quinn managed to flock his face in Charlotte last year with an unexpected blast from the flocking gun! Good thing he did not have any adhesive on his nose!

902. Re: factory warranty
I think the warranty would be affected but after this much time does it really matter?

I ordered the RM back issue with the excise tax article this morning. Also the one on pricing that I missed. These were the type things I thought a professional organization could provide but I can see that they're already available. I just didn't look hard enough.
I appreciate all the many good points and devil's advocate thinking going on in this topic thread. Outside of small local clubs I

I'm aware of that club but it's not really what I had in mind. I wouldn't want to just duplicate what others are already doing and in most cases are already doing much better and at no cost. I think that's why they haven't attracted many members. I was thinking more of offering some things for the professional builders that aren't currently offered.
The old BassMaster group used to issue you a

Hmmm. Interesting points. Guess I didn't really stop to think that there might not be enough builders with that kind of interest to really be able to fuel such a thing.
I guess I was thinking about something like the North American Fishing Club but looking it over again this AM I see that it's reallly not much more than a magazine subscription with a few lures tossed in to sweeten the pot.

Since getting more involved in the rod building community I have benefitted greatly and think that the internet and all similar ventures have really opened up the learning curve for rod building. As I working on a rod last night I started to wonder if there might be additional opportunities for rod building in the form of some sort of a professional organization for teaching or sharing ideas. 907. Re: New Magazine
At this point in time I can see no reason for anyone to write another book on rod building. What could it possibly contain that isn't already covered and much more in depth than it has been in Rodmaker?
The magazine is such a treasure trove of information that anybody wanting to see a new rod building book on the market in the hopes of learning new ideas or techniques might just as well go ah

908. New Magazine
My secretary came back from the post office this AM and had my new copy of Rodmaker. Although I have not been taking it very long I have to say that each and every issue impresses me with the amount and quality of information. Nothing against this website which is wonderful, but the magazine clearly rises above it head and shoulders.
Guess I won't be getting much done today. Too much rod buil

It's rare that an operation that really doesn't have any real competition would continue to keep improving. Rodmaker is unique. Wish somebody could convince the cable companies to operate the same way!
It would be great if some of the old timers like Gene could be convinced to attend the rod building exposition next February. Any chance?

Your e-mail address is tagged to your name.
If you're impressed then you don't need anyone else to validate what you already decided for yourself.
I've found good blanks at very low prices but never great blanks at very low prices.

Give them away to friends or relatives or find a good charity or a veterans group that will take them.

I rely on thread to strongly bind my guides to the blank, not CP or epoxy. I have never had a thread wrap fail. The epoxy and CP are just there to protect the thread over the long haul. Been using CP on all my saltwater rods for many years and haven't had any problems to date. For me the use of CP and wrap strength is a non issue.

That's true but you don't have to build it any differently to use the mono-split shot set up.
I'd look hard at the Batson Rainshadow IF908 RX7. It's not expensive, pretty tough and will get the job done. The Croix SCIV in a 9' #8 would also be a great choice but will run you more $$$.
