If you are in the process of trying a new finish please give Thread Master a try. I apply finish on average 10 to 12 times a week. Love it. Easy to use. Dries great.

fly rod should work fine. For casting light live bait and small spinners try the S781 or S782MHX depending on your lure rating. Dont let the UL rating on the S781 fool you. Lots of backbone but loads very light lures/bait.

Frank,
In addition to the above mentioned RM magazine and Baton, Mud Hole has their blanks broken down first (in the catalog) to type of blank and then a chart as to technique specific for each blank series to narrow down the learning curve even more. Order a MH catalog you will be glad you did.

Rick,
With a slight "bump" in the foam above the cork line use a piece of bluejean denim to "buff" the foam until you get the desired (flush) shape.

It was due to my problems with Maderia and CP that I actually changed brands of CP that I use. I now use ChromaSeal (2 coats) and have had no problems with Maderia bleeding out or fish eyes like I used to. Previous CP brand was U40. i put CP on about 5 to 6 times a week on many different types of wraps. ChromaSeal never let me down.
Try that on Madiera.

The guides in this photo are off an old inexpensive Japan bamboo fly rod. the fly rod guides are gold in color and unique shape. I am trying to do a refinish for a friend as this was his mother's fishing rod. I need two of these guides. Happy to pay for guides and shipping, thanks

Jason,
I have built a bunch of those rated for that size crankbait for tourney and recreational anglers on a Mud Hole MHXCB843 Blend. I have had many positive comments. No lock up problems. Only problem I have had was getting anglers to slow down their forward casting stroke. they want to cast it like a fast action jig rod. Have to get them to slow down and hesitate, similar to a fly rod, when

its all starts with the handwrapper and you can't beat the Mud Hole CRB wrapper. I have seen students first hand with the older wooden hand wrappers and have helped hundreds of students with the new CRB wrapper. Rod building is supposed to be fun. CRB hand wrapper keeps the learning curve reasonable and is easy to use and well designed.

Jason for any rod clean up consider using Iso alcohol (90%). I have had denatured take the finish and gloss coat off some very expensive blanks in the past. I understand you are going to clean guide wraps/finish but I would think you would have to get the denature on the blank also.
