Tom marble right on the blank. I assume you are talking about marbling pigment in rod finish correct? If you are magic marbling put down a white primer coat first to make the magic marble colors stand out more. Buzz

Gregg, Lets narrow it down. Panfish? Walleye? Lake trout? If panfish are you detection the bite by watching the tip of the rod or watching the line? If panfish what size lures are you using? very small tungston jigs or blade/spoons and jigging raps? Buzz

Mick, Hmmm, like the ramp idea. Have done it before on spin rods. To make it useful I would have to square off the foregrip on the custom modified TN grips. but it should work. Thanks,

Does anyone know where I can get the winding check in the photo on the right? The size on the one on the left is .240” ID. My usual source is out and will be for months. They are used on ice rods. Fastenall doesn’t carry anything like that either. Thanks, Buzz

Give Mud Hole a call. They have all of their MHX and High Mod MHX blanks listed as technique specific. I'm sure they could suggest some options. Then when you get them built give me a call. I fish that exact area several times year. Lets try those rods out!!! Buzz

I understand the theory for placement of a stripping guide on a spin rod as it relates to test casting and static line deflection tests to determine final placement. With a spin rod the reel seat is static. However, with a center pin rod using a straight TN grip ( up to 23-24" long) with no reel seat the angler has a LOT of options on where to place the reel. So how do we determine a sta

Attaching lanyard - to custom kayak rods. Looking for a way to incorporate a tie off point in the rear grip of the rod during the fabrication process of a custom grip. I would like to be able to build this during the grip process rather than after the rod is done. what has your experience been in attachments for kayak rods? Thanks, Buzz

Looking to do a large rod building class of ice rods with multiple colors and not sure how many bottle of Magic Marble to order. Each grip will be three colors. Each grip will be primered white Each grip, with rear grip, reel seat(which will be masked off, but still take up paint) and foregrip will be 9" long. I know that using 3 colors it takes about 15 drops per color to get the effec

I understand that Roger. But customers who hole hop in very shallow water stand well back from the hole and put the tip of the rod just over the hole. They can be as much as 5 feet away and to find a 5 foot blank, with a tip as soft as a power noodle is difficult. Hence the need for a spring bobber. Do you know of such a blank? Thanks Buzz

LET’S TALK SPRING BOBBERS – First off, hate them. Never put them on a rod I don’t have to. Having said that there are instances, such as long-stand-up-hole-hopping rods that you need that visual bite detection from a distance. Lots of options. What do YOU like and why, attach photos please……AND what some some different ways to attach them to the blanks? See photo of samples, thanks, Buzz

pete the anti-spammer device wants you to put a total to a math problem in the box. I tried (even used a calculator to check my math) but the box only allows for a one digit answer but the answer is two digits. What to do?

Roger nailed it...........For years, I have used only Elmers wood filler in "golden oak" color available at big box home builders stores, hardware stores and lumber stores. I use this or Mud Hole's Pit Paste on EVERY natural cork custom grip I make. Affordable cork now a days is pretty crappy quality. Both fillers work very well and sand easily. Buzz

looking for ice rod blank, open to graphite or fiberglass, at least 30" in length prefer longer that will work well for jigging heavier jigs in deep water for lakers. Typical set up is full sized spin or baitcast reel, braid, floro leader. Thanks, Buzz
